Wonder if it'll be as a single inning reliever or if they'll have him available to go 2-3..

I would guess 1-2 innings for ashby. I would also expect his rehab assignment to be lengthy as there's no reason for him to come up until he's effective. Imagining a world where B Wilson and Milner are our mop up guys, because Payamps, Peguero, J Wilson, Ashby, Williams are handling 7-9th inning duties with one of Rea/Miley/Houser/Teheran in long relief...all while Uribe embarrasses AAA pitching and is first up in the event of injury.

The Alexander move/Megill option from the 40 man appears to have been in preparation for Justin Wilson's activation tonight, meaning another player may lose their roster spot soon. Be interesting to see who.

Wilson has been with the club since Monday, but activation was delayed due to consecutive appearances with Nashville Saturday & Sunday

"Back spasms"

Going a little more mainstream than "right forearm inflammation" with this one

Those can be tricky.  Might just keep him out the rest of the year.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

With Miley starting for the Brewers tomorrow (and Chafin arriving via trade), along with Woodruff and Anderson appearing in decent form for AAA Nashville today, it looks like we'll probably add 4 players to the 26-man MLB roster shortly:

  • Two tomorrow (Miley, Chafin) - likely for Megill, along with Toro or Perkins
  • Two in a few days (Anderson, Woodruff) - likely for Toro or Perkins, along with maybe Mejia
  • 2 weeks later...

I wonder if they have any thoughts of reinstating Winker on September 1?

Do they have to wait until he is done with rehab to DFA him?

I guess we could read into the fact that he is rehabbing in High A instead of Nashville that he isn’t in the plans……

They can DFA Winker anytime they want. Winker seems to have a bad reputation but appears to mesh well with this clubhouse/organization and are not in a hurry to DFA him.

I think this had more to do with Rowdy rehabbing in AAA at the same time Winker went out on his rehab assignment.

That, and proximity.  He's likely an emergency option in case of injuries at this point, so have him as close to MKE as possible.

I think I'd give him the weekend off hold him until the Cubs' series...No need to risk it given how we're actually scoring runs right now.

With a lefty going in game 1 for Padres certainly would expect him at the very least to get Friday off.
