01 Jackson Chourio

[slow start, but still just 19 in AA with the highest upside in the system]

02 Sal Frelick
03 Jeferson Quero
04 Tyler Black

[can see these guys in any order, really. Frelick the closest to MLB but currently injured and will likely never hit for much power, sounds like Quero has all the tools to be a plus defender behind the dish just a question of how the bat develops, Black the most well-rounded offensive profile in the system but still questions about the ultimate defensive home]

05 Jacob Misiorowksi
06 Robert Gasser
07 Carlos Rodriguez PITCHER
08 Abner Uribe

[have these four as the top pitchers in the system. Jacob's sky high ceiling puts him in the lead spot, Carlos has the better early season results but gave the edge to Gasser for now because he is a level up, and Abner at the end since he is reliever only but has the stuff for a high leverage role]

09 Daniel Guilarte
10 Eric Brown Jr.
11 Luis Lara
12 Freddy Zamora

13 Matthew Wood
14 Luke Adams

[next tier of position players for me. Guilarte, Lara, Wood and Adams off to encouraging starts, EBJ scuffling so far but plenty of time left, nice bounce back from Zamora in the early going.]

15 Justin Jarvis
16 Edwin Jimenez
17 Alexander Cornielle
18 Darrell Thompson
19 Clayton Andrews
20 Ethan Small

[close it out with my favorites of the remaining pitchers in the system though there are definitely plenty of intriguing arms at the lower levels to keep an eye on as the season progresses with Tyler Wehrle (2.99 FIP), Alexander Vallecillo (3.21 FIP), Nate Peterson (3.24 FIP) and Patricio Aquino (3.89 FIP) at Carolina, plus Ryan Brady (2.03 FIP), Tyler Woessner (3.04 FIP) and a maybe finally healthy again Max Lazar (2.99 FIP) at Wisco. Also really like Harold Chirino, James Meeker and Ryan Middendorf among the upper level relievers]

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

1. Chourio

2. Frelick

3. Quero— Future top C prospect in baseball when his bat gets closer to his defense.

4. Black— Future .350/.450/.800 1B

5. Misiorowski— Patience required, but how many pitchers have 2 80-grade pitches and a another at 70.

6. CRod— Has there been a pitching prospect in baseball that has exploded on the scene as much as this guy has since March?

7. Gasser— Command needs work, but the stuff is really good. Eventual mid-rotation arm and combined with 5 years of an all-star C makes the haul received for Hader extraordinary.

8. Lara— 70-grade speed CF with some pop in the bat. Team moved him straight from the DSL to Carolina for a reason.

9. Guilarte— Fast, athletic SS, with great BTB. Word got out the team thinks quite highly of him. Needs to get stronger.

10. Y. Rodriguez— Recent IFA signing out of the DR. Reports I’ve read have me excited with his hit/power combination. Organization can use more power bats,

11. Uribe

12. Brown— Might have him ranked too low, but the swing-change gives me pause.

13. Small

14. Zamora— Bat is starting to play again after his missed most of last year. Would have him ranked higher if he could eliminate his throwing yips completely. Seems to be doing better with that so far in the early going.

15. Jarvis— Improved command has him looking like a future backend starter.

16. Moore

17. Cornielle— Deceptive FB plays for me.

18. Andrews— 94/95 with his arm slot makes it an unusual look for the hitter. Nice SL, nice CH gives him 3 pitches out of the pen. LH helps as well.

19. Wood

20. Campbell— He’s hit everywhere he’s been including Biloxi his current stop.

Tremendous top 10 with the top 6 eventual top 100 prospects.

His OBP skills are so ridiculous he reminds me of Trent Grisham. A half decent average and he will make it to the MLB level purely based on OBP potential and speed. You just hope the guy can manage a .250ish average to be a nice top of the order guy.

Maybe it's prospect fatigue, but more bad than good in the early going of the minor league seasons.  Super pumped for Carlos Rodriguez, Misiorowski and the future BP arms - Uribe (come back soon), Chirino, Andrews and Thompson.

Late but wanted to put mine in anyways.

1. Jackson Chourio

2. Jeferson Quero

3. Daniel Guilarte (probably the best pure hitter in the Brewers system right now if he can add some power he could be a real threat at the plate kind of reminds me of a shorter Hanley Ramirez).

Curious as to your thinking behind Guilarte as the best pure hitter in the system right now. Surely it's an eye test thing because the stats don't exactly scream pure hitter. Since coming stateside, he has a 22% K-rate between ACL and A ball with a 60% ground ball rate.

Pure eye test on him and I think there is some power that the Brewers could tap into and they wouldn't have to alter his swing mechanics all that much.  He just needs to add some more launch angle and bulk up a little bit and he should be good.

I dunno where to put this note thought here at least worked. Quero cracked the top 100 on MLB rankings the other day. Now at 99 with another prospect graduating. Up to 9HRs in under half the PAs it took him to hit 10HRs for his entire age 19 season.  If he were a Dodger like Diego Cartaya he'd be top 15 prospect at mid-season rankings.

Cartaya off to an ugly AA beginnings at age 21.....
