The #Mets are wiping the financial ledger as clean as possible for David Stearns, who's expected to be hired as president of baseball operations this winter.

Good for him, if true. That's his childhood dream job. He deserves that opportunity and then some. I have absolutely zero qualms with how Stearns' tenure ended and how the hand-off to Arnold has progressed. It seems like a rare 'Win, Win' scenario to me.

Agreed, and I'm excited to see what Stearns can do in New York. The Brewers are in good hands.

But I thought Stearns was telling Eppler what to do last year and this offseason?

I am sure that Stearns hasn't had his hands in this at all considering Eppler is his best friend and Cohen has a history of insider trading in the markets.

Lets see how thrilled everyone is with Stearns once he starts pillaging our front office.

The Packers have had their coaching staffs and personnel departments pillaged for years. It's an inevitability in the small world of relationships-based professional sports. Develop, evolve, adapt etc. or perish.

Nothing is certain. Sports moves in cycles and eras. Hopefully, the Brewers are set up for future success regardless of what happens with Stearns and the Mets.

Its not good for the sport and certainly not good for the Brewers when someone like Cohen can spend as he can. You can bet he will pay Stearns upwards of 20 million per year and will offer several Brewers employees huge raises that this owner cannot match.

And, well, my opinion on that is: if that's the way things shake out so be it. This is the landscape all organizations have to play in. The Brewers have to win differently. And they've been very good at doing so. BUT, this is not what has happened or is happening today. I'm going to enjoy my Minor League slate and the rest of this season and hope the Brewers catch lightning in a bottle.

You speak very definitively on things. Let's see what actually happens.

Look how much money that guy is throwing around. He has probably thrown at a minimum 50 million into these deals so thinking he can pay Stearns 20 million a year plus whoever Stearns wants from our front office is hardly a stretch.

I have been impressed with the Arnold / Johnson team anyway.

Who says Stearns won't take them with him to New York. Cohen can pay Arnold 10 million without a second thought and throw say 5 million a year at Johnson. Don't discount the possibility of something like this happening.

Well unless Arnold is a FA after this year, i can't see this happening. Stearns would be POBO, Arnold would then be a GM, a lateral move and would require the permission of the brewers. Yes Johnson could be purged for a better job. Also no reason the brewers can't bump both of them up to prevent this from happening anyway.

The only good that can come from this is the other owners finally working together to get a salary cap after this CBA ends. If not things will only get worse as Cohen just throws money around to buy prospects.

I'm guessing Mark A will be the one who says they can't.

I'm sitting here by my phone waiting for the buyout of $1M to become a fan of the Mets...

Arnold is in charge of a major league team right now, why on earth would he leave to be 2nd fiddle again? And Stearns is such good friends with Billy Eppler that he's going to just replace him with Arnold?

Maybe Mark A can get Cohen to pay the AmFam maintenance bill in exchange for letting Arnold out of his contract?

Arnold’s contract expires after this season.  Though I expect Arnold to be resigned and they are just waiting to see if they need to promote anyone so they can refuse teams from interviewing.
