Woody and Peralta not pitching in the Cubs series

Rea tomorrow……TBA Saturday and Houser Sunday

Caleb Boushley was seen in the clubhouse so seems the rumors of him debuting this weekend are true. I imagine he might be the starter on Saturday

That would be great for Boushley, for sure, starting in his home state of Wisconsin. He did get roughed up for a month and a half to close his season with Nashville including a 7 H, 4 BB, 8 ER 3 1/3 IP outing at last place Charlotte on September 16th. Quite a tall task for him, if this is indeed true, to face the Cubs offense looking for a playoff birth.

And, if it's true, I hope he crushes his opportunity. He has to keep his stuff down in the zone. He struggles when his stuff stays up in the zone. Let's hope he brings his 'A' game!

Some posters think he strikes out too much.

That would be me. Look at his #s at the major league level. It's something I feel will keep him from being a true difference-maker if he doesn't clean it up.

He also hardly ever drew walks, which can be a real roadblock to reaching your full potential when you run the way he does. So today he comes to the plate three times & walks twice, which really impressed me (the double wasn't bad, either😁). I hope the way he took ownership of his ABs today is a sign of things to come.

Nice relaxing win.

It would be fun to make the Cubs lives miserable this weekend to finish things off.

Especially if we can do it with mostly non-starters.

Cubs behind 2-1 ….Olson with another homer

So after facing Elder on Tuesday, in the rest of their crucial, must-win week they face Darius Vines, AJ Smith-Shawver, Colin Rea, "I don't know" (it looks like Boushley), and then Adrian Houser. That would make it that much sweeter if they fall short.

40% is, in fact, too much.

But he's only had about 120 at-bats, so there's time to reverse that.

Take out his very slow mlb start right after his callup in 2022 and that k rate looks much, much better.

Mitchell showed signs of belonging last September down the stretch and got off to a really good start offensively this year.  I think that shoulder injury robbed us of watching him turn into an untouchable piece of this organization this season.

It's a gamble, but if he picks up where he left off this spring he should be our starting CF in the playoffs and it's not even a debate.

I get that you’re saying you’d take that gamble, but, I’d say “gamble” implies it’s at least a little debatable. 😉

I’d love for him to be “the guy” who gets hot randomly and drives us through the postseason (because somebody is going to have to be that guy), but I don’t know what my confidence level is that he’s him at this point.

Not really. He was still striking out about 40% of the time this year in almost the same # of at-bats.

It's always been the same three question marks with him: K rate, GB %, and health...There's a reason Sal Frelick was a more highly regarded prospect.

Mitchell is a fast learner and very capable of making adjustments to his swing, which he has done in elevating and getting to some of his raw power.

His swing is now short, but powerful. The K’s will come down with more PA’s like it did at AAA. Staying healthy is my concern. This guy is untradable until further notice.

Makes it that much more fun when WE get to eliminate them this weekend then!
