My guess is Boras will push for 8/250 and teams will be hesitant to go much over 7/200.

I think a team will give Burnes 8/250 but years 6-8 will be option years.  Player opt out after year 5 and then two team options with buyouts for 7 and 8.

Same with the Nats in 19. I was just fine with the Brewers playing them. Until I wasn't. Man, that game slipped away quickly.

My in-laws were visiting during this playoff series and game along with our 3 month old daughter. I really had to show some restraint and self control not yelling at the TV that last game.

At some point front offices are going to realize pitchers are the nfl version of running backs the way the game is played, and free agent starting pitcher money will dry up.

Just look at the list of Boras free agent starters and how generally awful those contracts have been to the teams who signed them.

Going to be vs. the Brewers....

If he is pitching the first game of the DH he will be facing Collen Rea.

Also interesting the other player in the Tellez deal, Trevor Richards was DFA’d by the Twins after just being acquired from Toronto at the trade deadline.

If the season ended today, all 12 playoff teams would be at least 10 games over the .500 mark. No playoff position team is more than 8 games back of the best record.

Crazy parity at the top boosted by some terrible bottom-feeding teams

Former farmhand Janson Junk DFA’d by Houston, and former minor league pitcher Antoine Kelly after being claimed by Colorado off waivers from Texas, outrighted him off their 40 man roster.

It’s really a testament to how far the Club has stepped forward where there are a lot of players floating around from the Brewers organization whereas from 1994-2004, Milwaukee is where professional careers mostly went to die

It all started with Matt Arnold Senior Vice President and General Manager and the ending of David Stearns.

Tough play for the Royals. Lose Erceg to a comebacker and their first baseman on the same play.

This reminds me of dialog from Bull Durham:

Crash:  Did you hit me with your right hand or did you hit me with your left? Huh? Did you hit me with your right hand or did you hit me with your LEFT?

Nuke:  My left.

Crash: Good! That's good; when you get in a fight with a drunk you don't hit him with your pitching hand. God, I can't keep giving you these free lessons so quit screwin' around and help me up.

I was at the game on Tuesday. After Churio's bomb, I said to no one in particular, "Anything that travels that far ought to have a damn stewardess on it." And I immediately became the funniest guy at AmFam.

Tommy Pham was claimed by KC off waivers from St. Louis. When he suits up for the Royals that will make an incredible 7 different teams he’s played for since July 31, 2022: Cin, Bos, Mets, Az. Chw, St.L and KC.

A Brewer killer too with a career mark of .283/.369/.500 in 244 PAs.

Did anyone else catch this the other day? This can't be right.

Was it actually less?

That was the completion of a game that was postponed the day before. I think they only threw 4 pitches before the rain kicked in so Semien led off the game with a new pitcher but a 2 - 2 count.

They played a second full game that evening and drew 11K.

From April 26th to May 15th the White Sox went 11 W - 8 L.

They had a couple mediocre weeks from June 7th to 18th at 5 W - 6 L.

Even put together another winning stretch at 5 W - 3 L from June 27 to July 5th.

They are 10 W - 90 L in their other 100 games.

My friend and I were watching the Angels beat the Mariners on Saturday night.  Ben Joyce on the Angels was scary to watch.  He was hitting 105 on his fastballs.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

Not sure where to put this. Depending on the value a team places on getting the top seed, there are 8 NL teams who will have to keep playing to the end. The three division leaders, of course, trying to be top 2. Then the five wild card teams (AZ, SD, ATL, NYM, CHC) will be jockeying for position. Could be a great month.
