First in-person game of the year for me which means the JV squad will probably all be starting :)

Looking at the Sox starter looks like a great opportunity to see Yeli hit #200 at home. But they will probably sit him..

I was thinking about this too. As a holder of a weekend 10 pack for the last 18 seasons, we are often treated to some vintage "Sunday lineups".

Today is one of our games, so I was thinking about some of the moves Murphy might make.

1. Sit Hoskins because he has played 2 days after coming off the IL. Bauers starts at 1B and bats 4th or 5th depending on who else is sitting. I think this move is likely. Hoskins definitely wants to play in Philly.

2. Sit old man Yelich to rest his back. He has played several days in a row now and they want him ready for the Phillies. Maybe not likely but wouldn't surprise me.

3. Play Dunn at 3B to give Ortiz a rest he shouldn't need and Dunn a chance to play he hasn't earned. Sadly, I think this is at least 50-50.

4. Find a way to get Monasterio in the lineup. Maybe Turang or Adames "needs" a rest. shouldn't happen, but again I wouldn't be shocked.

5. Give Contreras his first full day off this season. This one actually might make sense but I don't think Contreras would go for it. Expect him at DH with Sanchez catching.

Imagine this lineup:

Turang SS

Contreras DH

Bauers 1B

Sanchez C

Perkins CF

Chourio LF

Dunn 3B

Monasterio 2B

Frelick RF

This would give all of the old timers a rest, get the reserves some AB's, and maintain the integrity of the left-right lineup. If you expect this, it's likely that the actual lineup will look batter.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I would barf if that's the lineup. But Murphy might say "Hey w Peralta out there we only need to scratch across 2 - 3 runs". Give me Ortiz at least :)

I believe adames in on the play every day band wagon with Contreras so he will be in there.

Understand that that lineup is a tongue in cheek parody of the Sunday lineup.

lol @ Monastario DHing. Gotta sit Contreras, Hoskins, and Adames all at the same time because it’s a Sunday? Have one of them DH for a partial day of rest. They should’ve been doing that more often with Contreras anyway

Interesting to see Ortiz and not turang at ss with adames sitting.  Wonder if that's hiw they plan to go next year or if it's more of a consistency thing where turang is starting 2b so he plays 2b.

Freddy would take that deal, given the run support he has had

My tongue in cheek lineup wasn’t far off.

I should ask for my money back. If I wanted to see a minor league game I could drive to Appleton.

The CWS starter has only pitched in 4 games in the majors while shuttling between AAA and the parent club. Those 4 games leave a lot to be desired in terms of positive stats, but I'd be careful about declaring him "bad", Be patient and accept the walks he seems prone to.

This is the game to sit these guys.     Time for the backups to show they can play

lots of spots up for grabs on this roster as backups.   Time to perform.   The marlins series didn’t help anyone

Seeing the White Sox will start a guy with a bloated ERA and their lousy bullpen this is the day to give Willie and William a break (but I can fully understand your disappointment).

I bet Freddy really appreciates the line-up today.

Sheeeeesh.

I do find it funny a lot of people have been saying that Contreras needs a full day off, that Murphy is going to wear him out and when Murphy finally gives him a day off against a pitcher with a ERA of almost 10 we get complaints about a Sunday lineup.

Well, it would be funny if that was what was being said but it isn't.  The problem is not giving Contreras a day off, which he deserves, it's giving Adames, Contreras and Hoskins all the same day off, which seems like a poor decision.
