So in a somewhat last minute move, my family will be taking a road trip to Colorado 7/3-7/8. We'll be able to get to the game at Coors field on July 4th. What experience have others had there? It'll be my wife, our two kids, and two foster children we currently are caring for. I'd like decent seats, but need to be somewhat economical, as well. Is the secondary market a smart place to look, or not?

Thanks for any help!

I have the same question as well. We will be there for Monday's game. I have some friends who have visited so can ask around but they have likely only visited a few times at most. It would be helpful to hear from a local.

We asked for tickets out of the direct sunlight but they were sold out (we walked up to a meaningless game last July between the Rockies and Athletics) and we sat in the sun for about two innings before we walked around looking for shade. I assume you can find open seats in the shade when you go, but be prepared to be in the blaring sun if no seats are available for purchase and you're not feeling risky with sitting in someone else's seats.

It was my second time being at Coors Field; the other time I sat in the outfield and mainly stayed there the entire game as the group I was with was having fun with some locals.

The product on the field is garbage but the stadium offers some fun sights and plenty of places to eat (and park) in downtown Denver.

My brother has lived in Denver for a few years and now lives in Fort Collins here is what he said

The whole neighborhood direct to the northeast of the stadium, RiNo (river north), is the "cool" up and coming spot with a lot of cool bars, breweries, and restaurants. And then if you go the other way from the stadium, south west, you get into Lodo (lower downtown) where union station is--the light rail is a great way to get to the game if you don't want to worry about parking.. and then from there I'd say pop onto 16th st mall. It's kinda like state st in Madison. No cars allowed. It's a little touristy but there's a ton to see. And there's a free bus that runs up and  down it non stop. And then at the end of 16th st mall is the State Capital and civic center park. And the art museum--if they're into that. There are plenty of rooftop restaurants/bars right by Coors

Hope it helps.

Home plate to centerfield runs directly north-south, so you don't want to be in the upper deck on the 1st base side.  Looks like all games are after 7:00pm so you should be OK anywhere really.  I've been there once and enjoyed it.  Pretty sure I bought off of the secondary market.

There is a very high migrant and homeless population in downtown Denver.  I'm hearing of people/businesses having to put large rocks/small boulders on open spaces to keep people from setting up tents.  I wouldn't leave anything visible out in your vehicle (difficult with children), so be a little mindful of that where you park.

Beautiful park. Nice setting. I love the downtown stadiums.

Sat on the first-base side for a night game in 2018.IMG_1399.jpg.07af9b9c176287f7d4a551b6a9644d43.jpg

There’s light rail that drops off at the stadium too, so depending where you stay you may not have to drive and park.

I'll say, upper deck first base side gives you a view of the Rockies in a clear day which is pretty darn cool.

Was there about 15 years ago. Nice stadium. We sat one night close to the Brewers dugout, and then got cheap seats the next night we wanted to sit up by that purple mile high stripe which was cool.

There used to be a Brewers/Packers bar close to the stadium that was kinda fun too after the game or before. Forget what it's called.

Swanky's is the Wisco dive bar about a block from the stadium, but there's also Badgers on south Broadway and Wally's Wisconsin Tavern on Market St. The July 4th fireworks display will be awesome, so if you get certain tickets, they let you out on the field after the game. I can't recall which levels/sections, but the tickets for those go fast. Rooftop in the right field upper deck is a lot of fun, but maybe not the best for a family. I would agree with avoiding sitting in the sun. Taking the train in to Union Station is pretty cool, usually what I do from Golden. I actually drive to Old Town Arvada and will pregame there and then take the train in. Day pass on the train is like $6 per person. It's about a 4 block walk from there and you go past Dairy block and Toms watch bar, or there's lots of rickshaws willing to peddle you there, and you can negotiate the fee. I'd also try to get there earlier to avoid the crowds entering in through the metal detectors. Left field or right field entrance is usually better for that. Home plate entrance get's pretty packed.

Really enjoying Coors Field so far. Good affordable tickets. Easy to navigate even with a youngster. I think I might have inadvertently made my 5-year-old  daughter a Rockies fan, though. She is absolutely enamored with their dinosaur mascot Dinger.

Update on my end - field is nice, kids love the play area and the smaller food portion restaurant is a good touch. But don't even think of moving seats in the 8th inning! Ushers at every stairwell and kicking out people even sitting down in empty sections.
