Good-bye Rashan Gary double-teams

JUST what I was thinking. Wyatt I think is going to have a monster season as well.

Gute...getting it done!

I don't think it was Clark being a bad fit, I just think... a player who has started his career like LT vs Clark who is on the tail end and has slowed down, you kinda have to make that deal.

Love Kenny, but he wasn't the same player.

Same. He was a very good player for us, but his best days are behind him.

He turns 30 in October and came into the league at 21. He's played A LOT of snaps.

edit: I guess he came into the league at 20 and turned 21 in October.

Explains why they kept both Brinson and Stackhouse.

Makes me a little concerned about their interior run defense.  Say what you want about Clark getting older, but of Clark, Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden, Brinson, and Stackhouse, I think Clark was clearly the best interior run defender they had.

Sacks aren't everything.

I guess the brass really likes DeMarcus Covington. We’ll find out soon enough.

Clark was good and I still think he was good. It really doesn't matter, I don't need to rationalize how good he wasn't. When you can get a generational player at the most or second-most important position in the league sent to a team that won 11 games you do it. When that player is 26 and possibly hasn't peaked, you do it before the other guy changes his mind.

I bet Gary was offered in place of one of the firsts but Dallas didn’t bite. Then again Gary a team leader and the Packers like him. I have complained for years about the Packers not going all in, I will shut up now. 😀

Ho. Lee. Buckets.

I mean, the loss of Kenny is a thing. BUT, you do this trade 8 days out of 7. My goodness. Micah is quite arguably the best defensive player in the entire NF of L when he's healthy. Man, pairing him with Edge Cooper and Rashan Gary is all sorts of Hafley's Lab FUN. Here's hoping that back is just fine.

People in some other forums hate the deal and I dont get it. Sure, losing Kenny is rough but the surplus value from Parsons is insane.

As for the financials, its a big risk I get it. But I dont care if we have to get rid of everyone in 2 years and we suck for half a decade if we get a SB

I'm just kinda... at a loss for words(shocking, I know)...

No first sucks. Losing Clark hurts a bit but you win in the NFL by dominating the pass rush. Look at what Tampa did. We may have to sell out a bit more on defense vs the run, but... so be it. I was kinda looking at him as more of a run stopper at this point. He just doesn't quite have that jump anymore. Parsons... may not have ideal size, but man, he is gonna make life easier for everyone else on the DL.

Is this trade for the Packers the equivalent of the Brewers trading Peralta and Pena/Pratt/Quero for Skenes?

Yeah, sorta.

The deal works better for the Packers if they keep Gary — obviously hoping it’ll open things up for him too.

LVN becoming a thing is pretty much dead in the water though.

I normally hate trading 1sts, but hopefully they're both really late picks plus how often do you get the chance to get the 3rd best DE in the League and a guy who has already shown he can completely take over a game? Plus he can play inside on passing downs, so good luck against Parsons-Wyatt-LVN-Gary.

My Cowboys-fan co-worker doing his best to accept it. I had the patience not to respond to "We can get another Parsons with a late 1st for sure much cheaper." He said Parsons tends to dog it in the 4th Quarter, but I'd guess that's because he's been their entire defense for years.

Totally disagree. He'll still probably get close to 50% of the defensive snaps this year.

Not just because they'll start off slow with Parsons, but they'll can easily get both on the field together, but aside from that, rotating edge rushers is so important to keep them fresh.

And they can move LVN or Gary inside on passing downs.

I mean the Reggie comparisons are very legit. AND, we get Micah at Age 26 to Reggie's Age 32. Only two players in NFL history to record 12 + sacks in their first two seasons. Dallas D, by EPA, were the best Defense in the NFL with Parsons on it. Bottom 5 with him off the field. I mean...giving Hafley this level of weapon is unbelievably exciting. I. Can. Not. Believe this just happened.

Micah over the Middle, fwiw, is a serious problem. There are an abundance of these types of clips:

They will likely move him everywhere. Because, well, he's a weapon everywhere.

Yup, either one could kick inside and you can play Parsons off the ball also.

I don't imagine you will do that often, but a 5 man front of even just Parsons, Cooper and Walker at LB?

There are so many ways to use a guy who's his size with his speed and athletic ability and plenty of opportunities for even Enagbare and Sorrell yet.
