Brewers at Blue Jays; Sunday, August 31 @ 12:37 p.m.: Brandon Woodruff (3.10 ERA, 3.53 FIP) vs. Max Scherzer (3.82 ERA, 4.65 FIP)

After that 14-game winning streak, I started to deceive myself that we should win every game. That's stupid in any sport (even for me), but especially in baseball. But we'VE made it so far, with a decent lead, .... and, as has been noted: CUBS LOSE! CUBS LOSE! CUBS LOSE!

On the subject of the roster expansion I assume Hoskins will be the position player tomorrow.

(Ah, Rockies walk, off Cubs as I write this).

But when Ortiz is ready I hope we’ve seen the last of Siegler for this year. I would rather see Bauers because at least he has some pop, and is better defensively than Vaughn or Hoskins.  Siegler might have some  some skills the Brewers like, but he hasn’t shown enough to warrant a roster spot when results are all that counts.

I would have been happy if the Brewers could have landed Santana instead of the Cubs. They really need a left handed hitting pinch hitter for September and October. Even Black would be better than Siegler.

I was surprised to see Hoskins in the lineup for Nashville tonight…….figured he would be on his way to Milwaukee with a day game tomorrow.

Could be Joey will be activated and they wait on Hoskins if they think he needs a few more days?

After these next 3 games with the Phillies the schedule becomes much more favorable for the Brewers with the Padres as the top team left but that series is towards the end of September

Cubs are gonna have to play red hot down the stretch for any chance at winning the division

The MLB app shows Skenes as the scheduled starter for the Pirates against the Dodgers on Thursday. If he makes that start (which would make sense as he pitched on Friday) the Brewers will miss him next weekend. That wouldn’t upset me. Even though the Brewers have had success against him I’’d rather take my chances against someone else.

That IS a bit surprising. Sounds like Ortiz is doing all the baseball stuff in pregames lately. It sounds like both he & Hoskins are set to return; Hoskins has played a handful of games in N'Ville already.

Perhaps you give Hoskins another day or two just so Bauers can start a game vs Philly because Murphy wants to see how many different shades of smoke can come out of the ears of Brewerfan denizens.

Nice of the Rocks to get one.  Still annoyed at Arcia for scamming us, so at least he had a rare productive day today.

An ironic type of joy in their road trip, seeing Adames & now Arcia step up. If only Vinny Capra was playing SS for the Angels last weekend..............

LOL, just heard Colorado walked off the Cubs 6-5 Rockies win.

Just saw the replay. A ball hit down the RF line scoring the winner from 1B, and they never really had a play. Damn, that's a huge OF in Coors.

And that also means he's set to pitch against the Cubs in a couple weeks.

I don't disagree but if it ends up 1v2 I would strongly prefer to have the HFA. I don't think it's wins you the series or anything, but let's go ahead and stack the deck against whoever we're playing.

Plus, more chances for me to be there when we win the pennant.

Totally get this perspective, but I care not at all about HFA in the LCS and WS, mostly because those three games in the middle, right in a row, feel better to me than the two plus two. And if it goes 6, there's so much pressure on the home team. Feels like a trivial difference. Not like I would be mad at being the 1, but I would certainly prioritize rest/rhythm rather than go all out for it, assuming the bye is clinched. Maybe I'd feel differently in 2-2-1-1-1 sports like the NBA and NHL, but it's still not something I'd get worked up about. Though more home games are nicer for the cash flow, so that's something (and none of this applies to the shorter postseason rounds).

Maybe someone has the numbers, but I feel like HFA seems least important to me in baseball. And I generally think it's overrated in all major sports, save for European soccer, where having to fly all the way to Kazakhstan or go to Marseille where the fans camp outside the team hotel and keep you awake all night feels like a much bigger deal.

Tucker played the bounce terribly as well.

Hard to know what will happen in a couple of weeks. They might shut him down for the season by then.

Amidst all the talk about "seedings" et al., I'm reminded that to beat the best one must always beat the best of the rest.

This sounds like if ric flair was politically correct

Nashville on Fanduel now up 4-0 in the 3rd.

Cameron RF

Hoskins 1B

Black LF

Quero C

Delgado 3B

Oliva CF

Zamora SS

Murray 2B

Have to think this roster could take at least 1 out of a 4 game series against the Rockies.

If we had Gasser, Myers, Henderson, Patrick or even Rodriguez going, I’d think at least a split.

Cubs fans have to be really frustrated after gaining absolutely no ground on the Brewers this weekend.  The math is starting to get pretty tough for the Cubs winning the division.

Local Boy Drake Baldwin trying to help the Brewers.

Now it’s up to the Braves shaky bullpen.

So, with the Phillies loss to the Braves the Brewers made it through the weekend holding even with the Cubs and Phillies and gaining a game on the Dodgers.

A series win over the Phillies would be huge.

Braves rally in the 9th  inning for a 3-1 win over the Phillies. So not a totally bad day after a loss.

Now they have to shower up and fly to Milwaukee for tomorrows game. That has to be hard for them. Oh well😁

If Miz pitches well tomorrow I think we will.

Big if.

Have to keep the ball in the park, especially against Schwarber and Harper.
