These Peralta and Priester starts are going to have me on edge every inning.    They need to walk out of here with zero discomfort.    And then they need to be put in some hyperbaric chamber somewhere for the next two weeks.

Assuming these starts against SD are the final appearances for Freddy and Priester, that gives them both 11 days off before their first start in the NLDS. Hopefully the rest does them both some good. I’d also be curious to see how hard they push them in these starts. Is it a 50-60 pitch tune up? No restrictions? Who knows. We very well could face the Padres again in the NLDS so I wonder if that has any affect on how Murphy uses his pitching staff.

I’m also guessing we get a Bruce Zimmerman start tomorrow.

Any chance DL Hall will come back and help us in the playoffs?

As I mentioned yesterday, Jeferson Quero was with the team although not activated. I figured all along Hoskins would be on the PS roster, but if they re-think that you could see Quero activated, he & Jansen split the catching over the next week, with Contreras easing back in as he DH's & catches the last game or two. And for all the Jansen haters, maybe Quero impresses enough to stick around in October.

I think it's unlikely, but Hoskins looked less than scintillating at the plate Sunday, so...........?

I don’t know if it’s a factor for Murphy or not, but the Brewers have to be sensitive to the “integrity of the game” aspect of playing a team in a division race.

They could also be trying to pin down the number 1 seed. I expect to see some rolling off days over the next few days, but not wholesale use of bench players until this weekend.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

So help me, Murph, if Contreras gets a season-ender and we end up plugging another black hole into this lineup on top of inferior handling of the pitchers during the playoffs, I might demand your job.

Looking ahead to 2026 … Any chance Yelich finally learns to play first base so he can be the LH option for that position & allow others to bat in the DH role too? His back has held up well. It seems like a good time for him to learn the position. If Monasterio can effectively play there, why not Yelich?

Contreras is back in the lineup and catching.

I don't like it, but a happy Contreras is likely a more productive Contreras. It's a balancing act for the manager.

I believe he's mentioned in the past he has no interest in playing 1B. It can be a funny thing with some players, a comfort-level issue. You'd think 1B would be relatively easy. But I remember reading once how Joe Dimaggio was put at 1B by the Yankees one day, the idea being to lengthen his career. It lasted one game. He was really uncomfortable & basically told the team 'never again'.
