I don’t know if anyone on the Dodgers scares me more than Teoscar. Dude just seems clutch.

There's this fella named Shohei something...

re: the extra innings rules.  I realize I'm in the minority, but I wish they'd have just left it alone.  Yeah sometimes extra innings games go long.  Oh well, the way she goes, boys.

nah I completely agree with you man. I hate change for the sake of change and there was nothing wrong with the way extra innings games were before.

If I read the stat right from a couple days ago, Kiki hernandez's career post season ops is almost 180 points higher in the post season than the regular season.  So he would be one that would be annoying to face.

I thought extra innings sucked in the 3TO era. Just a race to see who can hit a solo HR first, and sometimes it took forever. The Mariners had back-to-back 12 inning games in September and I just wanted the second one to be over so I could go to bed.

Eventually there will be a change but with both owners/players happy with the current situation it will take a fan lead initiative. Ideally they would at least play the 10th with regular rules. I haven't seen anyone suggest a change that is clearly better than the zombie runner. Maybe you put the runner at 1st instead of second so you can't lose on a blooper. Two outfielders instead of three?. Three ball walks? There are a lot of ways to manipulate the rules without putting auto runners on, but are any of them actually better?

If I would change it I would change it to a walk/hbp = 2 bases and an intentional walk = 3 bases and a strikeout = 2 outs and you choose 4 players to bat in extra innings and only the players who were available to bat in the 9th inning count.  Gets you more time to see the best of the best play and less of the bottom of the barrel play.  Also would make bullpen management crazy towards the end of a close game.

What about multi ball?

Such a farce. Dodgers yawn through mediocre regular season then activate Death Star when it's time to play.

And we all know how that ended.

We really don't need the dodgers rolling through the Phillies in three.

It's only fair when the Brewers are going to win in three, also.

Yankees starting to finally show some fight, but Jay's still up 6-3 early.  Seattle/Detroit has been a good series so far, but Seattle is dominating today.

A Toronto/Seattle ALCS would be fun just from the standpoint of not hating either team, but also 2 teams playing well.  If the Brewers and dodgers both close out their series then that would be 4 good teams playing well in the championship series.  Though that might be redundant since you kind of have to be playing well to make a championship series in the first place.

Half of the teams in the postseason don’t seem to have enough pitching to go anywhere. Although someone has to advance in the Yankees/Blue Jays slugfest of a series.

Do you share Brewers stories on a Mariners board someplace?

I know this is a foreign concept to you but I cheer for two baseball teams and I like them equally.

Interesting note, all 4 games are elimination games today.  I wonder if there has ever been a year where all 4 series ended on the same day.

FS1 just showed a graphic on their pre-game that showed that Ruth had 62 HRs in 1927 and Maris had 62 HRs in 1961. Is this part of some recent revision of history that I'm unaware of?

Edit: Never mind. I think this included postseason and I missed that detail. Ruth had two postseason HRs in 1927 and Maris had 1.

I wasn't watching, but could it be their "162-game pace"?

No. I edited my post. I believe it included post season HRs and I missed that detail when they showed the graphic.

Sarah Langs has the answer: October 5, 1996.

Bases loaded, no outs - season on the brink right here for the Tigers.

Two different pitching strategies on display here after both starters pitched well through 3 IP...

Tigers go to the bullpen and have to use a high leverage arm to get out of a mess.

Mariners will likely stick with Miller for now.

Yankees eliminated. There goes MLB’s American League big market team. Toronto vs. Detroit/Seattle winner in the ALCS.

Funny thing is, Toronto is like the 5th or 6th biggest market, and it might be even bigger since the Jays are basically Team Canada.

I'm kind of rooting for the Dodgers tonight just because I'd rather the Brewers game start at 6. But that may be silly.
