this was always the downside of the bullpen game in gm2. we were still starting a 1st timer in a hostile environment today, even if and when it worked in gm2. this was why priester in gm2 and quintana today made the most sense on paper.

Priester looks like he hasn’t pitched in a few weeks

First playoff start from a 24 year old too.  He pitched like a veteran all year, but he is still young.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Let's just get out of this inning

I wouldn't have pulled him at this point. Would've made him get out of it and try to give you 3 or 4 and try again in G4 if you don't find any offense. Now we put 8 innings on the pen in a loss.

I'm sure you'll see Gasser eat some innings. And Anderson the way this is going.

Quintana can soak up four. Gasser can soak innings too. We’ll have our best tomorrow.

Sorry to say, this was inevitable due to all of the “shoulda used Priester in game 2” stuff I read the last couple of days.

are those people correct?  Maybe.  He might’ve been just as bad.

for those that were okay with Priester today, playoff nerves and all the hubbaballoo over Priester being a Cubs fan as a kid did not help him out at all.

thankfully, it’s just the first inning.  But yikes

It gets pretty dicey for the arm once you start going over 40 pitches in an inning. He probably wasn’t going over 2 innings anyway.

Guys... chill out.  Its early... 3-1 isn't insurmountable with our offense.

As many have said, probably not the best decision to have a rookie start his first playoff game on the road.  Not great planning by our manager there.

Let's get out of the inning and get after it.  We have a solid bullpen.  Mears, Patrick, Ashby will hold down the fort until we can regain the lead.

Weren’t we all just saying a bit ago that this is likely a super low scoring game with the wind blowing in like it is?
