This team is an embarrassment to the state of Wisconsin. They would have lost to Arkansas the next game. Thank goodness their season is over.

Chokers.  I know I'm mad, but this is the truth.  Chokers.

The have plan A and there has never been a plan B if the other team takes away plan A.  Need to do more than 5 out next year.

I mean super fun regular seasons that inspire hope followed by massive wet fart choke jobs are kind of a time honored Wisconsin sports tradition. Nothing here we haven’t seen a million times before.

No dude, it was a fun season, with a bunch of high ranked team upsets along the way. That was kind of the point.

I've seen the highs & the lows of UW in the tournament. And during the lows---I mean the REAL lows, like getting bounced early---I've never had as much trouble finding something to point out AFA negatives as this one. There were some. They didn't rebound all that well, but the #s were about even & there were a lot of long rebounds which are often coin flips. For the game UW wasn't outshot, they got to the FT line a little more. High Point was ridiculous from deep in the final minutes, and the only one that wasn't at least reasonably well-guarded was on the move, from 35 ft away. Nine TOs for the game isn't a horrible total.

A few too many 2nd chance points. And 3 or 4 empty trips in a row after going up by 7-8, I thought at the time that hurt, and in retrospect it did. Blackwell turned it over five times. But when you look at Georgia State, SW Missouri, JMU---it was much, much easier to point fingers at shortcomings in those games. More than anything this was the opponent just getting it done late, in spades.

This is why I have really struggled to get back into Badgers buckets like I used to be. Just get back into sweet 16 once. As usual I thought this year was different. 😡

Personally, I've never been a huge fan of the five-out. But for the lions' share of the season, it worked. Yeah, HP knew Boyd was going to have the ball in his hands late, and was going to try to make something happen. It was predictable. But it's been predictable all season, and he's mostly come through---including a # of times late in this very game. I'll agree though, I'd like to see more of a post presence down the road.

Think of the shots HP made in the last 5 minutes. Miss one of them & we're probably all in a better mood. We weren't good enough today but I think this was much more a case of them winning than us blowing it, or being an "embarrassment" or other such nonsense.

Things that came to mind watching the game:

Playing with your food, especially up 8 with about 5 to go.

Boyd playing hero ball instead of running the 5 out with all 5 involved.

They could have/should have dominated in the post. I know Winter coming back from injury is partly to blame, but still

The thing I hate about getting bounced early is it that I just kind of check out on the tournament after that happens.  My enthusiasm is gone.  I'll still watch some games this weekend if I don't have something else to do but I won't make a point of it, and it will be with very mild interest.  Screw it.

Just wanted to say I appreciated your insight all season.  Good, knowledgeable stuff.

that's a good thing.

sports used to be a periodic break to life's trials.  now the NFL wants games every day of the week. sports betting is accepted and encouraged. do you think a single one of the badger players actually learned anything this year? it's like everything else in our culture. it's turned to shyt.

yeah! i'm super pumped to root for the guy who came to our school for 5 months for nothing other than money

the amount of losers trying to make a go of their own podcasts and youtube channels is indicative of how being super into sports anymore is embarrassing and pathetic. the amount of virgin nerd posts I have to scroll through to find an pertinent information about the team in the Brewers forum is sad. i'm done with it

Point #1, definitely. Had looks from close in, from the right people, & didn't convert.

Boyd was 100% taking matters into his own hands, and it looks bad when it fails. More often than not this season, it hasn't failed. Not letting him try to make plays late probably would've resulted in a lot of "Dance with who brung ya!!!!!" complaints. Swing it a time or two before some of the drives, yeah maybe.

Winter could've been more of a factor, & Bieliauskas started out so-so but got better in the 2nd half. Overall though yeah, eleven shots from the bigs inside the arc isn't a terrible number given the structure of the offense. Would've liked Winter to get some more looks on screen & roll though.

There are fewer things more on brand in sports than a Wisconsin based sports team choking away their opportunity. For all you lifer Bucky fans, I'm sorry for your loss today. I'm sure it stings. Sadly, we've all been there one too many times in the past 25-30 years.

The lite beer Badgers strike again.

Certain amount of fun to drink but leave you unfulfilled with a bitter after taste.

Thanks, that means a lot.

I used to post on a UW basketball board, but some of the herd mentality there, snarkiness, and toxic attitude toward newcomers (not me; I was there for awhile) turned me off. I'll still go there sometimes for info as there ARE knowledgeable posters there & a couple 'insiders'. This community is much, much more enjoyable though.

I agree on Boyd, High Point figured out that he was going to be selfish. You have to drive and dish when they are selling out. But we were playing tight and not shooting with confidence from the perimeter.

I’ll wait and see how HP looks in R2 before declaring this a giant failure. It’s a shame because often you have to survive the upset special to go on a run and we won’t get to see how they would have responded to pulling it out.
