Milwaukee Brewers To Remain On Fan Duel Sports -- Now contract terminated

So I read everything on the mlb website regarding the brewers tv, but I’m still slightly confused.

I am an out of market fan (Illinois) and I’ve subscribed to mlb tv for 20ish years.

1) the $100 option- is this exclusively for in market fans? Or if I only want brewers games as an out of market fan can I buy the $100 option.

2) the $200 option- is this exclusively for in-market fans? If I as an out of market fan purchase this bundle, would I be subject to blackouts on brewers games when they’re playing the cubs and white Sox?

basically my goal is to be able to watch all brewers games, even when they play the cubs and white Sox. I used to be able to watch cubs and white Sox on my cable package- but that’s more difficult has become more costly and comber some as those teams have created their own RSNs.

Q1) Correct, this is only for in market Brewers fans.

Q2) Correct, the $200 option is also only for in market Brewers fans. Out of market fans would pay the $150 subscription and be subject to local blackouts when the Brewers play a team in your market.

If you're in a market where another team's in market plan is available (like the Twins for example) I'd assume you'd also be able to get that team's version of the $200 plan so that you could watch (nearly) every Brewers game regardless of which team they're playing. There are still going to be National Exclusives (like the Apple TV games) that won't be shown on MLB.tv.

As out of market in Pittsburgh who can't watch and of the pit/MIL games I am also very interested in this goo

Unfortunately it looks like you're out of luck since the Pirates aren't one of the teams being offered for an in market subscription.

Any idea how it works if we already get MLB.tv from T-mobile? In the past it was great when I lived out of market, but since moving back to in Market not so much.

I had seen some rumblings that somebody would have to get the full-blown ESPN bundle in order to watch this.  I'm guessing that is not the case?

Looks like I have no reason to keep Fubo anymore.  Going to look for some sports-based packages with some provider for a lot cheaper.

From what I understand the T-mobile perk is just for the traditional MLB.tv content. So no in market Brewers games. You'd need to buy the Brewers package yourself and the benefit is you wouldn't need to spend the extra $100 to get the rest of the MLB.tv content.

I believe you'd get a 1 month free trial of ESPN Unlimited by signing up for a MLB.tv package but you are not required to subscribe to or use ESPN Unlimited to watch MLB.tv games. You would need to cancel the free trial for ESPN Unlimited before the next month to avoid those recurring subscription fees.

I’m curious how this will play out for me..

For several years I have purchased MLB Extra Innings through Spectrum and its predecessor. That allowed me to watch out of market games on a series of channels. It is like MLB TV, except that you can only get one broadcast of a game instead of being able to select which team’s feed you want. Of course I got the Brewer games through FanDuel and its predecessor as part of my normal Spectrum account.

For the last couple of years Extra innings has included a subscription to MLB TV, which was basically the best of both worlds. I could watch other games on the Spectrum channels or through the MLB app on the TVs in the house that are connected to a Roku device, or on my iPad..

For the last 3 years, I have also received a. free subscription to MLB TV as aBrewers season package holder. I gave that to my daughter who lives in Florida so  she can watch Brewers games unless they are playing the Rays or Marlins. I am not sure if they will still be doing that.

I’m expecting that Spectrum will be offering something to its subscribers, possibly access to Brewers games without an additional subscription, and I can end up with an arrangement essentially the same as what I’ve had.

If they don’t, the $200 package that includes all out of market games and Brewers games without blackouts would probably be OK.even though I would be paying more than I have in the past and might lose the Extra Innings channels on Spectrum

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Fortunately, we get ESPN Unlimited for free from Fubo now.  That would go away if we unsubscribe.  It is their way of saying, "we took away NBC, so here is ESPN."  ESPN owns 70% of Fubo anyways.

I don't like the name Fubo.

I think Fubo used to be a soccer focused service so it kind of makes sense because the Spanish word for soccer is fútbol so it's kind of like an abbreviated version of that.

I got the email today from the Brewers regarding season ticket holders. From how I read it, SSH are NOT getting MLB.Tv for free this year.  The email only included links to purchase Brewers.TV

Disappointed.  I will assume that T-Mobile will offer it for free again, but who knows?

The SSH/SSM/whatever "Brewers Bits" email from February 13 includes this language:

In the next few weeks, we will have information regarding your MLB.TV subscription from MLB. Once available, there will be an email sent to you with the code for your subscription redemption. This MLB.TV subscription is valid for out-of-market games, just like prior years, and does not include Brewers games. If you are looking for Brewers games and do not already have it included with your TV provider, you can subscribe here: Brewers.TV Subscription

I added the bold above.

If you're considered out of market (and where you live, I'd guess you are), the MLB.TV subscription you'll get will act like it has in past seasons.  In Madison, where the hawing household is, I am guessing we will be able to continue to use mlb.tv for live spring training, live audio of Brewers games and live video/audio of non-Brewers games.  Pairing that with our actually still having traditional cable and I think we are just waiting to see what channel carries the brewers dot tv telecasts.

If you're not sure (and I'm not 100% sure I'm right), check with Nate, ticket rep to the Brewerfan(atic) elite.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Anyone know how many devices you can stream on?  I can’t find anything in the terms and conditions.  I would assume multiple TVs in the same household could have it on, but don’t see it listed.

Google AI search seems to suggest 2 simultaneous streams. It also says up to 5 devices can be signed in at once. Only caveat here is the source for this info seems to be tied into the "MLB TV on ESPN" service. But I would assume whether you're watching via ESPN or directly from MLB.tv it would be the same.

Wanted to chime in about the MLB At Bat app, which I've used the past 2 years to listen to radio broadcasts living out-of-state.  This seemed like the best thread for it?

In previous years, the deal was a $29.99 for the entire year, and with that you got all radio broadcasts. An additional bonus was live TV streaming of minor league games (which I never used).  There might have been some MLB Network tie-ins/perks, but I can't remember.

Based on an email I got a week ago, a few things seem to be changing...
 - MLB At Bat is being rebranded to MLB+
 - The subscription includes full access to MLB Network ... sounds like this is new
 - The price is increasing to $59.99 for the year

The radio broadcasts continue, with no blackout restrictions.  Sounds like the MiLB streaming component continues, too.

Not crazy about the $30 increase, that's double the previous cost and now $10 /mo for radio broadcasts during the 6 months of the season.  Not horrible, but loses some appeal.  The key might be if or how much I use the MLB Network piece.  The email describes it as, "MLB Network programming 24/7 through the MLB apps - including select live out-of-market games as well as MLB Network shows like MLB Tonight..."  I wonder if the "select" part of "select live out-of-market games" is just to say that MLB Network only airs select games, or MLB+ will have an even lesser selection of games that would otherwise be on MLB Network.

EDIT: Removed part about possible 20% discount available for this year.  That's just for an MLB Shop purchase.  The email was crafty in making me think it applied to this new renewal cost.

It looks like you get it monthly at $6 a month which unless you want year round MLBTV probably makes more sense.

The $29.99 package included radio, MiLB TV, and MLB Big Inning. The $59.99 package includes all of those plus full access to MLB Network so you're spending an extra $30 a year for MLB Network.

So I'm trying this out to see if it's worth the 100 bucks.  I'm not finding an app/not sure which app to download on my TV to use, I have a vizio TV if anyone else has one and can answer.  I am able to cast via brewers.com from my phone, but that would be clunky and less than ideal if I would have to do that for a whole season.

Also, watching today's game vs the Padres and it seems like it's standard definition and I'm not sure if that fall under, we'll duh it's spring training or if that would be what to expect for regular season.

Remember what Yoda said:

I don’t have a Vizio tv but if you have the Vizio Sports Zone it should be there.  Otherwise I think you can use the ESPN app.

Thanks for the tip.  Their announcement email made no mention of that plan, and viewing my subscription profile didn't say anything about it either nor offer a way to switch.  But the mlb.com website makes it pretty clear that a $5.99 /mo option exists.  I cancelled my yearly subscription to avoid auto renewal and will try to sign up for the monthly plan later.

Did you get any feedback from Nate? He's my ticket rep as well and I just sent him an email with questions, but I received a bounce-back and appears that he is out this week.

One of my questions is if streaming is the only option? I'm not a fan of streaming for anything other than Movies or certain series. I'm a flipper, especially when watching sports, Many times I'm flipping to other sports (or other programing) during commercials of Brewer games. Does anyone know if there is any availability of this on Spectrum cable?

Called MLB and got the answer I was expecting regarding streaming.  It appears that is the only option. I guess that is just where everything is gravitating to now. No more Brewers on one channel and golf on the other and flipping back and forth during commercials. Bah. Me and my 1st world problems.

They haven’t announced a cable option yet.  They said it would be closer to opening day.  So don’t expect an announcement until the end of this month or the week of opening day.
