Excited to see what they have here. But I’m not enamored with the Quero’s offensive profile. It’s okay for a catcher. Things get much more exciting if he improves his chase rate.

Maybe Yeli is back as the regular in left so Sanchez can DH more. They need some power to replace Vaughn/Chourio and Sanchez is the best bet they have there right now. I guess we will find out soon enough.

I wonder if this is a short term move to give Quero a chance to get acclimated to the majors. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a couple week thing to get a few ab's play in a few games then go down for regular playing time. It also gives the team some time to see how the rest of the bench  shakes out.

Bad break for Vaughn.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I might have to go back and revisit my preseason prediction. This could be one of those years.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Quite an opportunity for Wilken or Adams.  If they can get on a hot streak to start the season, they could easily get a callup as they would be a better option to play first than Sanchez/Quero vs. LH's

So, 1 game in and we have two key hitters with broken bones in their hands?

Seems about right....smh

Brewers need to consider new batting gloves.

Black should be the call here imo but hitting lefty i guess i can see it. If they want another righty bats would rather just see the Jett.

I thought I had seen somewhere on the interwebs that Quero was back in the 1.90s in pop time again? Can anyone confirm?

I saw that in the writeup for Quero in the Prospects 1500 top Brewers Prospects list.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

The item just says that Contreras isn’t the corresponding roster move, it doesn’t say he isn’t injured.

Is this a Yelich type situation where he’s got an injury issue of some type that may not require a trip to the IL so they are bringing up Quero to catch in the short term?

If Contreras isn’t catching or at DH tonight, we’ll know that something is going on. Maybe just some kind of personal situation.

Contreras is catching and hitting 2nd

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Good.

Maybe Quero catching with Contreras as DH tomorrow.

When did the Vaughn injury occur?

Is that a thing, to fracture your hand swinging the bat and hitting the ball? That sounds odd to me.

Some batters have the lower hand over the knob of the bat, and the knob hits a part of the hand on impact. It's a tiny bone, but very painful when broken.

Sánchez has 16.2 innings of MLB time at 1B

Contreras has one inning of MLB time at 1B

Quero has only played catcher

Yelich played 1B in high school

Contreras saw some time at 1B in the WBC.

It’s not how we wanted it to happen, but we are going to see a lot of Bauers and Lockridge. We will see if the changes they’ve made at the plate produce regular season results over at least a month here.

Willson played 1B in the WBC, William didn't.
