Same one

That’s an aggregator. MLBTR has an article on it that links to McCalvys deleted tweet too. It’s probably still Jones, and McCalvy maybe just said it before the team wanted him to, but until it’s not an aggregator pointing to his report, there’s still a chance it’s changed.

Wouldn't mind giving Jones a good look.  Former first round pick who's been productive throughout his career when healthy.  Plenty of time available given Matos is trending towards DFA fodder, Perkins has been unproductive, and Lockridge's ceiling is a 4th/5th outfielder.

I came to bring up this point exactly.  I was surprised the move to open the 40-man spot was moving Zas to the 60-day IL when they have shown no interest in giving Matos a shot (even against LHP when we are struggling with our other options).  Just 10 plate appearances so far.

I would roll the dice on DFA for Matos (hoping we can keep him in AAA due to his pedigree) and add someone like Eddys Leonard who can play multiple positions (including some recent action at 1B for Nashville).

after looking up mr jones, I would concur, lets give the guy a shot and just hope we choose correctly!

Yelich misses significant time every year. How are they never prepared for it?

They are, they kept Perkins and lockridge, and wrapped mitchell in bubbles for the winter

I mean, wouldn't keeping guys like Bauers/Sanchez/Vaughn around a bit of being prepared for it?  As much as a team with their budget can anyway.  Just saying they kept one-two guys extra in this general roster space where I'd assume a team with their philosophy would much prefer position flexible people.

Every year, I kind of chuckle when everyone panics in April, May and into June. But this year is looking rough. There is no offense in this lineup now. We all knew Yelich would have an extended absence, but there is a whole lot going wrong at the moment. If it was just hitting, I wouldn't be at all concerned, but it's that everyone is hurt. There's no getting around that.

He played 150 games last year…..Chourio missed more games last season and is hurt again……stuff happens.

Tyler Black(listed)?

Injured (right shoulder impingement), but would have been the logical call-up for Yelich. Instead, we faced a choice between Greg Jones, Eddys Leonard or a waiver claim.

The Brewers’ training staff should have a medical showdown with the Packers’ training staff to determine the worst training staff in professional sports.

I would have preferred Lara getting a look.

Yeah, this was an ideal chance for Black to get an extended chance at the majors.  Unfortunate timing on injury

Does Tyler Black need an extended chance in the majors? With nearly 1,000 AAA PAs his line is .264/.383/.423.  He’s limited to corner outfield and first base: positions where is pop-gun bat with good plate discipline do not different skills than the players currently on the roster, and he was unable to beat those same players out in ST.

Although I will admit the Brewers have an unacceptable number of regulars (Frelick, Ortiz, Rengifo, and Hamilton) with sub .300 SLG%. I would imagine if the Brewers believe they have someone who can out slug those players (Black?) while playing comparable defense some of those names above could find themselves in AAA or released (depending on contract status).

Maybe there's something in the Wisco air.
