Drohan was so good yesterday. That bullpen chart looks completely different if he didn't do what he did.

Agree, when he came in I kind of was thinking he would throw 3 or 4 and then get demoted just to replenish the bullpen. However he likely pitched his way into keeping the 26 man spot for the time being. He did enough that everyone outside of himself and Fitz probably.

I really like Mitchell leading off yesterday. It really doesn't make a difference if leadoff pops out, grounds, or strikes-out so his strikeout issues are lessened. Later in the game if they bring in a lefty it is easy to pinch hit.

Looking for a big start from Misi.

Interesting the due to the recent big scores the Brewers now have the best run differential in the division. +38

Cubs are +35

Shows how misleading run differential can be, especially early in the season, when a generally scuffling, offense has an unusual number of double digit outbursts.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

In the long term, run differential is actually pretty predictive of reality.  When you see a playoff team with a winning record and a barely positive run differential, it always sniffs out the pretender.

Certainly right now, both our RD and record are in the small sample sizes.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

This is a side tangent but every year it is always fascinating how going into the year I think some version of "we have 400 outfielders - there is no way we need Akil Baddoo. We have 800 starters, Carlos Rodriguez won't sniff the big leagues this year. We have 5 lefties in the bullpen! We need to trade 2 of them!"

... and yet here we are May 1st and I WISH Akil Baddoo was healthy. Not only did we already need Carlos but he has thrown well and we will need him again AND we have already dipped into multiple parts of the other AAA depth for starters.  We have already lost 3 of those aforementioned lefties and have needed 2 MORE lefties to come up and solidify the bullpen.

Every year.

Doesn't matter if it's Greg Jones, Steward Berroa, Anthony Siegler, Eric Sogard the 2nd time, Daz Cameron, Erick Fedde, Mitch White, Brewer Hicklen, Dallas Keuchel, etc etc

There are 15 times each year, no matter what, where I am watching someone step into the batter's box or take the mound and I'm thinking... "How on earth did we get to this point?"

I wouldn't like to see it on a regular basis, especially when we get some regulars back. But you're right, there are worse spots for him to be hitting than leadoff. Do whatever damage you can; if you touch air, do it with no one on base.

Ideally, 6, 7 or 8 IMO.

Has the offense been generally scuffling though?

Average runs per game is 4.51 so far this year and they have 16 games scoring five or more runs (14 W - 2 L) with the other 14 games scoring four or fewer runs (2 W - 12 L).

I’d say they’ve been more feast & famine, but either way to be running a 99 wRC+ and scoring 5.33 R/G (5th in MLB) with no Chourio or Vaughn, no Yelich for half the season, plus a number of spots with terrible production is more impressive than not all things considered.

Things could and probably should be much worse than they’ve been.

A big part of the Brewers positive run differential is that they are also 6th in MLB at 4.07 RA/G.

Miz for six. Ashby for two. Uribe for one.

Ashby hasn’t pitched since Sunday………somebody should check Murph for a concussion.

It's gotten to the point where I think you really want to get Ashby in the game tonite, even if things are comfy. Four days off is quite a bit for him. Touch & feel.

I get that you don’t want to burn a challenge this early unless you’re sure, but strike 1 to Contreras was clearly Ball 4.

Small sample but Black hitting 400 should mean he stays when people get healthy.

Agreed.  Have to believe he stays and Jones and Perkins go down when Vaughn and Chourio are ready.  We will still have plenty of OFs with that group.

Actually calling up someone who has just a modicum of talent instead of out tried and true ways of some retread goof that has hit .160 as a cup of coffee for the  Rangers and triple aaa experience but at least we don’t worry about service time or whatever might work better?

Friendly question - after reading your post twice:

Are you sober?
