Yes they currently have three players in the top 100 according to MLB.  Rojas (63), Hartshorn (74) and Wiggins (88).  Would need to be a combination of the three above plus others.  Brewers could easily beat this but I prefer they don’t.

A Slubal trade would be the only major trade the Cubs would be able to do.  After their first three prospects and really Wiggins is not having a good year there is not much there for the Cubs to trade away.

The Cubs could throw their literal kitchen sink of prospects at Detroit, and multiple other teams could outbid them simply by upping their ante from one of their B level prospects to an A level one.

If the Tigers wind up trading Skubal, it won't be to the Cubs

Yeah, so it sure looks like we are locking up Fischer...

I'm surprised we are waiting so long on Made, I have to think he is playing hardball with the price, ot this would have been done already.

If they extend fischer and plan on him playing 3rd next year there really isn't room for made yet unless they trade turang or vaughn and move fischer to 1b made to 3b then pena eventually would take cf maybe

One aspect of acquiring Skubal that I don't think we've really touched on, is his contract. It's not that teams can't or won't acquire him, just that it will be a significant factor in what a trade may look like.

The Tigers are a good operation. I'm guessing they would eat money in exchange for quality of return.

We damn well better not be thinking of trading Adamczewski for Freddy Peralta.

I can't tell you how much I don't want to trade this kid, and if we trade him for a rental like Peralta, we will truly regret it in the near future.

UGH!

I know it says Detroit was looking at him, but odds are, the other teams were too.

Zero chance of Adamczewski for Peralta. Not even close.

Brewers seem to like package pitching deals like getting Harrison & Drohan. For all of our pitching successes, the org really lacks top tier pitching relative to hitting. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a multi pitcher deal that helps restock the farm.

Adamczewski could be an All-star and deserves a healthy return.

I mean, the scouts could also have been there watching...

Manuel Rodriguez
Dylan O'Rae
Matthew Wood
Josiah Ragsdale
Mike Boeve
etc.

If my team acquired one of those guys in some trade for a reliver or something, I'd be stoked.

No, the Brewers are not trading Adamczewski for Peralta.  Lots of other players on Biloxi who could be trade bait.  Lots of other players on the Mets besides Peralta.

Detroit could be Skubal.  Angels could be Detmers.  I would absolutely do Adamczewski for Detmers as Detmers isn't a FA until 2029.  I'd absolutely do Adamczewski in a package for Gunnar Henderson or Jackson Holliday from the Orioles.

I'd hate to give up Wood as I think he can be that backup bat-first catcher to replace Sanchez.

But those four teams have some good secondary piece trade options, particularly in the bullpen:

  • Mets - bullpen (Weaver, Raley, Minter), and Manaea could be a swing-man/long reliever who could neutralize the LHH in the NL
  • Angels - have a former closer in Kirby Yates who is having a good bounce-back season
  • Orioles - lesser-known bullpen guys in Tyler Wells and Rico Garcia
  • Tigers - Kenley Jansen, Drew Anderson

Why would you possibly want henderson or holliday there both having massive down years not that holliday has even had a real good year before

we have pratt and turang with made pena fischer etc etc producing in minors hell as soon as ortiz moved to 3rd he can hit again and as of late he is playing way better than both henderson and holliday

Besides henderson will probably cost atleast 15 mil next year in arb and atleast 20 the next with the talent we have on the way up that move would be a waste of money limiting us from improving elsewhere on roster in my opinion

Why would I want a guy who finished 4th in the MVP voting two years ago at age 23?  I dunno... maybe to upgrade 3B/SS and win a World Series this year?  Sometimes guys have a down stretch.

Made, Pena, Fischer, etc., aren't going to help this year.  Or likely next year either.  So, rent those guys for a year, then trade them once Made/Pena/Fischer are ready... if they ever are ready.  They're not a sure thing.

Henderson hasn't been the same since that MVP type season,  Last year and this year, his numbers are down, so much so that he is basically just a guy.

Sure, he could bounce back anytime,, but it's been over a year and a half since that 2024 season, and all his numbers have decreased.  17 homers this year, finished last year with 17 homers, but that is a long way from his 37 in 2024.   Batting average has cratered, and he is no longer a threat to steal.  Anyone can look up his numbers for comparison year by year.  He just isn't a difference maker right now, and especially not the kind of difference maker it takes to win the World Series this season.

Holiday has been awful and hurt frequently for 2 seasons, and right now, looks quite a bit like a bust.

I would buy low on Henderson and/or Holliday in a second.

I don't think Baltimore would be dumb enough to move them even if a change of scenery might benefit them.

They also would be unlikely to help us in the short term, it would be more of a play for the next few years.

If the last year and a half are down/awful years/the floor for Henderson (25 years old, FA in 2029) and Holliday (22 years old, FA in 2031 or 32?), then sign me up.

2025-26:

I think it'd probably cost more than it's worth for us considering all the infield talent we already have, but I would be pretty confident in them providing a boost the rest of the season and beyond if they were acquired.

And at only 25 years old, I suspect Gunnar has a good chance of finding his 2023-24 success again:

Also everyone always wants the Brewers to get power, and even in a down year Henderson has more homeruns than anyone on our team except Bauers.

But to get back on topic - get Skubal too!

Buy low on Henderson, sure thing, but pay up in top prospects, no way...

Man… I’ve generally not been bought in a trading for Skubal. I’ve mostly been skeptical that the Tigers will trade him however I think I’m coming around on the idea at this point. He’s been awesome this year since coming back from injury. His playoff performance has been every bit as good as his regular season performance. Even while playing better, the tigers just haven’t been able to truly get back into the playoff picture and have a bunch of teams to jump.

Henderson scares me long term due to frequent injury issues. I’d hate to trade him, but if he’s the main piece for a Skubal trade, I think I’d get over it. Not sure really what a package would need to look like, but Henderson would have to be a pretty damn good centerpiece since he was a pretty highly ranked prospect who has done nothing but succeed at the mlb level so far. Henderson would hurt because he’s helping this years team so much, but if they went in for Skubal I’d have to imagine they make some other moves as well.

(I’m not prepared to defend this. It’s just a gut feeling from a fan perspective and subject to change at any point lol)

Be  nice if we truly knew what was going on with Harrison.

Are we getting the full story on the Miz?  I've seen it reported that he was starting Sunday, then he wasn't, and now he's  back to starting again?  Forgive me for not 100% trusting the front office on injury severity.

Yeah, Skubal, Miz and Harrison would be great!  But if Harrison is going to be back and forth on the IL from here on out, does Skubal solve our issues if we trade Henderson for him?

So yeah, adding Skubal to Miz and Harrison would be pretty freakin' sweet, as long as he's being added to Miz and Harrison, not Miz and Drohan, or Harrison and Drohan...

MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reports the Brewers are “prepared to adopt a more aggressive approach at the trade deadline” and have touched base with the Tigers about Tarik Skubal and the Padres about Mason Miller.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that the Brewers will get either player — or that either player will be traded at all — but it’s a notable shift from Milwaukee’s usual deadline strategy. “I’ve been on the phone a lot,” Brewers president of baseball told McCalvy. “We’re definitely active.” The Brewers are clearly looking to snag a bye in the National League playoffs. Skubal’s availability seems to come and go as the Tigers win and lose games — it sounds like if a Skubal deal does come it’ll be one that happens on August 3, the actual day of the deadline.

National media keeps pushing the narrative that we should make a move for Skubal. Or at least speculation that we should (Ken Rosenthal speculated and did the whole "it's not what they do" dance).

That being said, we have more 40+ grade prospects according to Fangraphs than any system in baseball. We have another crazy interesting IFA crop of talent where another 40+ grade guy (Leanders Matos? Alexander Mercedes?) will come from in short order.

If we're not going to spend on offense, and there's not much of a market anyways, why not try to shut down opponents in October? A 1-2-3 of Skubal, Misiorowski, Harrison and a 4th starter in a rested Woodruff? That's most likely our best avenue to a World Series berth.

The Media is always wrong so I would take Mason Miller hands down over what we would have to give up for Terik Skubal.

Miller might cost even MORE than Skubal.
