Remember Adrian Houser? He will make $ 18 million over the next two seasons. On top of that, he has been meaningfully below replacement level in four of the last seven seasons, including this one. Today is Houser's first appearance against Milwaukee.

Fittingly, Coleman Crow is who the Brewers received from the Mets in exchange for Tyrone Taylor and Adrian Houser. Crow will earn less than $2 million over the next two seasons. Plus, Crow will likely be better than Houser this year and next at 10% of the cost.

I hope somebody in the media asks Murphy what their plan is with Crow, he is already at last year's innings and hardly pitched at all in 2023 or 2024.

I reckon it is to keep pitching as long as Woodruff/Henderson are out.  Keep his innings/pitch count as low as possible in the mean time.  DL stint when Woodruff/Henderson are ready, and after that see where the Brewers are at.

Yeah, with 50 IP last year and a career high of 128 IP back in 2022 my best guess is the Brewers won't want Crow going much over 100 IP this year.

Maybe planning to continue with the shorter starts (he's averaged about 80 pitches in his ten appearances this year) until he reaches a certain point then transition him to shorter relief outings.

Splitting this series would lowkey kinda suck

I don't think you even need the lowkey qualifier. :) It definitely would be a disappointment for how bad the giants are. On the plus side, they have not demonstrated they have any offensive capabilities, so we've only lost one game because Webb dominated and we couldn't get a key RISP. Otherwise we're going for a sweep.

Is Ortiz benched or injured?

They have no backup INFs if he's hurt so I'm sure they'd make a roster move, and he played in the 9th inning last night. So for now, benched. I think there's some mental grinding going on in the FO right about now.

The patchwork rotation outside of Miz and Harrison - and using a 6-day rotation - has me expecting to go 3-3 each full rotation, regardless of opponent. Saw that Henderson is now pushed back, too. Just treading water until the real starters can rejoin.

For those who think, we have to keep rolling with Ortiz no matter the bat because his glove is that good, pretty clear message from the Brewers that nope, there are limits.

We have not been able to not say Coleman Crow’s arm is strong, until this year.
I’ll see myself out.

I’m good with this, but playing are Rengifo seems to undermine that message.

Ortiz at .193/.290/.244/.534 and 0.3 WAR is nothing to write home about…

but Rengifo .204/.278/.253/.531 and -0.6 WAR is even worse.

Don’t get me started on Perkins -0.9 WAR or Frelick at -0.3 WAR

I came here to say am I crazy for wanting Ortiz and Hamilton to be the left side of the infield everyday? Ortiz’s strategy of not swinging at all to draw walks has kinda been working and I’m losing my mind watching Rengifo

Does it really matter?

We are stuck with crap on a stick no matter what we do on that left side of the IF.

Same crap on a stick applies to the bottom 3 of our batting order.

How in God's name have we won as many games as we have?  lol

I genuinely thought Murphy might start Perkins today just to troll us.

He'll save him for a late inning, game winning hit opportunity

Welcome to life with no off days and only two reliable starting pitchers

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Houser has pretty big splits for lefties hitting him.  So I can see why Ortiz is not starting.
