On paper the Brewers caught a break getting both Painter and Nola(good luck on that contract) and they need to take advantage of that before facing Sanchez. For a team that the Brewers hardly face they sure are an annoying fanbase. Hopefully Miz can shut them down and shut them up for a bit.

Phils playing well lately - given their roster, I think this level is more the "real" team, so looking at season stats might be misleading. A little concerned....

They've been flashing that most runs scored in MLB with two outs leaderboard up during the broadcast, so it got me curious about what other splits the Brewers might be doing well in this year...

Hitters (with two outs)
837 PA (12th) | .750 OPS (3rd) | 136 R (2nd)
Pitchers (with two outs)
780 PA (29th) | .626 OPS (1st) | 78 R (1st)
[as good as the hitters have been at scoring runs right before making the third out, the pitchers have been even better at nailing down that last out of the inning. I'm not too sure what the baseline is, but I have to imagine a +58 run differential with two outs after only playing 66 total games is pretty good. Only four teams have cleared a +58 run differential on the season so far and the Mariners in 5th at +26 aren't particularly close]

Hitters (first pitch)
270 PA (27th) | 1.064 OPS (1st) | 15 HR (15th)
[the Brewers haven't looked to ambush often but when they do watch out. Those 15 HR represent 26.3% of the team total to this point while the 270 PA represent only 10.4% of the team total]

Hitters (vs lefty starters)
696 PA (16th) | .759 OPS (6th) | 98 R (6th)
[even missing two of their best righty bats for a chunk of the season the Brewers have performed well against lefty starters with a 13 W - 5 L (.722 W%) record so far]

Hitters (with two strikes)
1,349 PA (18th) | .508 OPS (17th) | 127 R (t-3rd)
Pitchers (with two strikes)
1,371 PA (13th) | .458 OPS (6th) | 83 R (4th)
[despite not having that many PA or that impressive of an OPS with two strikes, the Brewers have gone ahead and scored the third most runs anyway. No surprise the staff with the highest K% in MLB fares well once they get to two strikes. Again, that +44 run differential with two strikes would be 5th in MLB on its own]

Hitters (runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs)
179 PA (2nd) | .938 OPS (8th) | 135 R (1st)
[think back to all those times the Brewers didn't score the runner from third with less than two outs, even with all those failures they still have scored more runs than any other MLB team in that situation]

Hitters (late and close)
402 PA (13th) | .691 OPS (21st) | 64 R (4th)
[another split like with two strikes where the Brewers haven't been particularly prolific or proficient, but have ended up efficient anyway]

Hitters (with 2 outs & RISP)
351 PA (1st) | .793 OPS (1st) | 114 R (1st)
Pitchers (with 2 outs & RISP)
262 PA (29th) | .541 OPS (1st) | 59 R (2nd)
[we already know the Brewers have been one of thee best teams with RISP on both sides of the ball going all the way back to 2023, so of course it makes sense when you combine that with their two out dominance that they come out looking really good here too]

Since Mattingly took over as manager after their 9-19 start, the Phillies have the best record in MLB at 28-12, a half game better than the Brewers 27-12. So, yes they have been playing well.

They haven’t been as potent offensively as they have been in recent years as some guys (most notably Turner and Realmuto) have been having subpar seasons. But hitters like Schwarber, Harper, and Marsh make them tough.

It doesn’t upset me that the Brewers will not be facing Wheeler, who seems to be in top form after recovering from the same problem Priester is having now. Maybe Priester will have to undergo the same surgery and try to come back next year.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Sure, fine. A crap left handed pitcher or right handed pitcher, why not both say the Phillies.

I don’t think you really need to get cute to get Turang and yelich out lately

I'm always going to feel good about Misiorowski taking the hill, but those three are productive & all hit from the L side; for me that's the challenge. Let's hope Miz continues his run because when he's on L-R doesn't seem to make much difference.

I'm all for Priester taking the path he's taken, but I would think progress has to be shown soon.

Pretty cool that Miz is just simply better than Skenes, Skubal, and any other pitcher in baseball. Never thought the Crew would have the Ace of the MLB again after CC.
