Yes, my point is they are thin on infield now. Lara for Hamilton doesn’t make much sense that way

yeah I was expecting Williams to be the call-up if Hamilton is goes to IL.

Another doesn't make sense move from the Brewers. We were told they kept him down because they don't want him sitting. Well I can't believe he's playing unless Vaughn is moving to third.

I think they’re actually trying Sal at 3B while Hamilton is out as the platoon option and Lara’s taking Sal’s OF spot lol. Nothing else makes sense unless someone else is hurt. Gasser is the guy getting the double header extra roster spot today I assume so that’s not for Lara I think.

If the Brewers medical staff thinks Hamilton can get by with the minimum ten day IL stay that would take him right up to the end of the All Star Break and he could be activated then for the first game back.

This is kinda my initial reaction to the move. We are butting up against the break. We don’t have another infielder on the 40 man. Add a bat for the rest of the week and take the break to assess how Hamilton is recovering and see if you need to make a 40 man move coming out of the break.

Now demote Blake down and Jett up.  Lara gets the RHB opportunities for Frelick. Mitchell has been on fire, so it is hard to sit him for Lara.

3rd base will be interesting.  Would be difficult to roll with Ortiz and Pratt for 7 games.  Frelick actually makes more sense than Vaughn.  Good thing is we lose nothing defensively in the outfield with Lara.

If there’s ever a time to steal a couple starts by Frelick at third base it’s probably during a Misiorowski start when he’s going to strike out half the batters he faces anyway.

I had a debate with a few folks during the A’s series about whether Vaughn can or cannot play 3B, but even I have questions about him doing it regularly. Would Vaughn or Frelick be the better choice?

It just feels like if they really wanted to give Vaughn reps at 3rd, they would have done it by now to get him in the lineup.

Assuming Hamilton has the minimum ten day stay, Vaughn wouldn't need to play 3B regularly.

They would likely just give Ortiz all the playing time there for the next seven games with Vaughn/Frelick as emergency options.

Just promote Fischer from AA and our power/3B problem is solved. Ortiz/Hamilton can be the super sub

Fischer is a talent for sure, but he's only got 16 games under his belt at the AA level. He's not ready yet.
