There we go - 58-33!!!  25 games over .500 on July 7.

Last year you had the two long win streaks. This year it's just constantly beating people with determination. Credit all around.

Brewers' international team coming through again (seemingly). No one better in the business at finding talent outside of the states.

I'm very worried about the next CBA.

Robert Gasser, if you need him.

Great outing!  He is in the convo for #3 starter in the second half.  Miz, Kyle. Gasser, Henderson, With Drohan and Sproat as #5 and the pen!  LFG!!!

Let’s win the World Series this year and then we can be champions for 2 years when the 2027 season gets cancelled.

Lara scoring from first on that Turang double that didn't even get close to the warning track and wasn't some crazy gap splitter was so impressive. Obviously he doesn't have the beautiful gazelle type stride that Yelich does but that was probably the best baserunning I've seen since Yelich was in his prime.

I’ve been worrying about this damn doubleheader and the strain it would cause on the bullpen for weeks. The need to overuse the pen in AZ did nothing but intensify my concerns.
What Miz and Gasser did today from an innings eating standpoint was beyond reasonable expectations. Bullpen still has a couple of guys who could use another day, but it’s in way better shape than I thought they’d be.

You can throw in Drohan going 6 innings yesterday as well and if it hadn't been for a really sloppy defensive inning he might have also gone 7

The Cards used as many pitchers in game one as the Brewers did in both games. What makes that even better is they have two games left against them. Usually when you wipe out a pen in a double header it's the next opponent who gets the benefit.

9 W - 4 L to start the dreaded 18 games in 17 days (11 on the road) stretch.

My 4-14 prediction not looking too smart.  They just keep finding ways to win.

They were always going to use more pitchers because their starters didn’t come from their rotation. Until the seventh inning of the nightcap they did a pretty good job of keeping the Brewers in check.

They will need longer starts from their SP the next 2 days, and their closer is well rested.

Would like to see the Brewers offense put some pressure on them early while Harrison bounces back with a good solid 5-6 innings.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I mean more normal to select a picture to the 26 man roster who is stretched out and capable of going multiple innings. Then DFA’ing that pitcher to select another arm. Cards did it with Bruce Zimmerman and they’ll likely DFA Schuster for another arm. Cubs did it with Bryce Wilson last week. The Braves do it with Carlos Carrasco too, but apparently with his blessing.

MLBPA may make that a sticking point in their next round of negotiations, this kind of roster churn manipulates pay and service time.

that's what purposely acquiring more starting pitching depth does for you. Ditto for the Cubs. Had they spent the same money they did on Bregman for a couple journeymen starters and get two other starters for what they traded to get Cabrera they'd be in a hell of a lot better shape now too.
