"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

RHP Ethan Dorchies makes his 2nd start of the week (4 IP, 5 R, 1 K on Tuesday), as High-A Wisconsin tries to salvage a 2-4 series at South Bend. RF Luis Castillo has a .945 OPS in 74 July PAs.

Blake Burke just hit a 3-run Jack in the 10th. My goodness. The long ball power from our Vols is insane. 13-7 Shuckers. A 6-run 10th so far.

Yup, extra innings means extra homers for the Burkemeister:

Wilson, who have dropped 4 straight games in Charleston by a combined 6 runs, send out RHP Hayden Robinson for his 2nd outing of the week (4 shutout innings on Tuesday). 18-year old RF Brailyn Antunez makes his Low-A Wilson debut after producing an .887 OPS in 259 ACL plate appearances.

where did Adamczewski get hit?

Was what looked like a FB that was spiked and bounced and hit him on the side of the front leg. He looked fine. Even was on 1B for a pitch then they pulled him.

I don't want to say these are things we should read into but Adamczewski getting cautiously pulled after a HBP and Pena getting pinch hit for as a DH a week before the trade deadline feels like something I'm at least raising an eyebrow over.

I wonder what the average lineup age vs average pitcher faced age has been for this Wilson series. Seems like every day is literal men vs boys.

Do better, Devil Rays.

Yeah. I very very unfortunately made the same early speculative conclusion. IF either (or both) are packaged, my only hope for them is they go to a good situation where they can continue to shine. Both young men have immense talent and the absolutely embody the right approach. Great young men and great teammates.

It looks like a bullpen game for AAA Nashville as they try to salvage a 2-4 series at Sugar Land. RHP Lyon Richardson tossed 34 pitches on Wednesday. C Darrien Miller tripled in extra innings last night and is 11 for his last 26.
