I figured, for a little entertainment, a thread of some of the most ridiculous trade proposals might be a bit of fun. To start off with, here are two of my absolute favourites

Apologies Molly and Jim, you may need to fire whomever whispered this in your ear

Perhaps even more outlandish, and the audio is worse than the trade board in the comments, but:

The man has "GM" in his twitter handle and, well, thank goodness he's not one

Have you seen any truly ridiculous trade threads?

Many trade proposals recently have had me questioning my sanity. I know as fans we will tend to overrate the system... but man the bias and lack of team specific knowledge is showing these days by some of these guys.

This does open up a interesting question to think about - The brewers system is one of the top systems, but are we overrating it as fans (current non-local coverage has me questioning this at times) and where does it stand in comparison to the media darling that is the dodger's system?

Unironically the Brewers might have to offer that to get Skubal. I’m not saying they’ll even consider that but the Dodgers are absolute mad men and going to outbid anybody for him.

The Dodgers obviously have money coming out their ears, but that is also an extremely well-run organization. They aren't going to go above the value they've placed on Skubal just to make sure the Brewers don't get him. That isn't the way they operate.

Doubt it, Im kind of exaggerating but they have 5 prospects in the MLB Pipeline top 25 and do they have any reason to think they couldn’t reload the chest and have that same amount come this time in 2028?

Yeah outside of having a billion more dollars to spend than the Brewers, they both operate in a similar manner as far as not making stupid trades involving top prospects. Basically the opposite of teams like San Diego.

We can also add MoccBomb, who is not a bona fide source, with this tweet suggesting all bar one name the Brewers may use in such talks

That's just saying Detroit is interested in those players though which obviously makes plenty of sense.

It is, but I feel it's clickbaity. He's mentioning those names for clicks, and throwing stuff at the wall

I actually think he gets some inside info, but not the full package and then left guessing on bits

I think the only player we’d consider trading in that group for Skubal would be Fischer (and maybe Mitchell)

trading from our MLB roster (which would weaken our chances at a WS) this year makes no sense for a rental player.

if they demand Perkins, Yelich, or Frelick, I could be convinced, but no way on Pratt, Lara, or Henderson

Mitchell is intriguing. #1 pick with speed, defense, power and contract room, who has performed when healthy. Tigers see the value. We are about to have a logjam and it's selling at a reasonable price for Mitchell.

Chourio/Lara/Frelick/Lockridge outfield is not bad, but maybe we add a different rental piece.  Adamczewski, Ragsdale, & Payne could be in the mix soon enough anyways.

They are a smart and well run organization, who normally don't trade top prospects for rentals. But I think the circumstances are right for them to be willing to go bigger than usual. For one thing they have like 6 top 100 outfield prospects. They could keep the three they like the most, and still put together a trade package that not many teams could beat. They're also getting old. Freeman, Betts, Muncy, Teoscar, as well as some bench guys like Kiké and Rojas, will all be in their age 34 or older seasons next year. Some of the pitchers (Snell, Glasnow) are also getting on, and already injury prone. With how well run they are, and how much revenue the team brings in, they'll always be able to be competitive, but they probably have a better chance this year than next. And that's even if the CBA is agreed to on time, and doesn't particularly change the system against the Dodgers.

So while I don't think they'll bid for the sake of driving up the price, I think they're willing to go higher than they have in the past.
