Would love it, but I don't think Megill and Crow would be enough, you'd probably have to add in a Hardin or Letson, plus maybe even someone else.

For me I wouldn't give up one of those higher end pitchers just because it is one year of Alcantara, you could be correct on the value for sure. I do think the bidding for Sandy would get a little out of hand if he is made available.

I am just saying that we have plenty of pitching depth and Hunter Goodman would be awesome. Even if we keep William for a year Goodman could be the backup catcher, platoon at 1st, and DH and be an extremely important bat.

Would Sproat, Crow, and Hardin be to cheap? We could throw in Vaughn (or send to a 3rd team) if we would want Goodman to play more 1B.

I think it will take a better package than that for Goodman.  I don’t see the Rockies parting ways with Goodman unless they are getting one or two really good prospects back.

Would Peña be that good prospect?

3 years of Joey?

Adamczyski would play well there?

Payne and any number of pitchers

we have the talent to make it happen

MA2 will get to decide

If we traded all three of those pitchers to the Rockies, I would be very sad for them, VERY SAD!  Colorado is pitcher hell, it would seem almost mean spirited to deal all three of them to that unforgiving pitcher's hellpit.

DH at bats would be far and few between with Yelich under contract for two more years.  It would have to be back-up catcher and 1B.  I'm inclined to see what we have in Burke, Adams or even Fischer at 1B next season, and it would cost us nothing!

Joey? ok...  Then who plays 3B?  Hamilton full time?  nope

Adamczewski - nope

Payne plus pitchers - No way

Just Payne - No way

There has been alot of chatter that other teams will be calling about Joey this offseason with Made getting close. I think the only way I would be willing to trade Joey is for a 3 quality prospect player return which includes 1 high end arm or a qulaity young contolled pitcher who has at least as much team control.

Unless you get a really strong offer, which I doubt they'd get anything massive due to his so-so offense, I'd keep him as the utility/insurance guy.   Hamilton is fine in that role, but Joey would be better.  Plus, if Turang doesn't start doing better vs lefties he could take a good chunk of Turangs vs lefty starts.   And of course, injuries happen so its good to have such a good backup ready to go since there will likely be at least a month of starter's injuries.    And if Made doesn't sign an extension you can keep delaying his debut as much as possible if you have Ortiz

Then I think you are hanging onto to Joey...  That is way to big of an ask imo.

It is a big ask, Joey was on pace to be a 5 WAR player the 2nd half. For a controllable high end defender we should get like a Kyle Harrison style starter and some decent prospect pieces. All it takes is 1 desperate team to overpay for a really good half season.

You can't point to his second-half performance without also pointing to his first-half.

He's a one-tool player, and it's sure a great tool, but we're as sell-high a position on Ortiz as we're ever going to be. I don't think he's worth a high-end prospect by any stretch, but with MLB's new fondness for defense and bad teams needing ML-ready players he'd fit really well in a package with somebody else.

I would like to see the Brewers make a play for Casey Schmitt of the Giants. He's a 3B with power and a good glove. 3 years control. The Giants have Chapman at 3B through 2030 and they have Marcelo Mayer who can play 3B. With Turang gone after 2028 (and a very possible trade candidate after 2027) there is a spot for Made and it would allow Milwaukee to trade Ortiz. Thoughts??

Even accepting Bauers leaves (which I don't think is a foregone conclusion), aren't the Brewers in a better position to just roll with rookies at both 1b and 3b seeing as they have four prospects about ready to come up also with platoon potential? If anything we need to figure out how to subtract.

I agree with trading Turang after 2027. It'd be maybe a year too soon, but bring up Pena the second half of the year to acclimate him on the hopes he'll be ready the following year. That way you can trade two years of Turang, and I'd figure you could get a heck of a return to fill in whatever gap we may have.

I think we would be in a really good spot to fill in 3B and 1B if we lose Bauers and get blown off our feet for a Joey trade. We have Vaughn at 1st for a year and then 4 high potential option who could all be ready to contribute next year at some point (Burke, Fischer, Adams, Bitonti (more likely 2028)). 3rd would have Hamilton with the extreme upside of Made realitively early with guys like Jett and maybe Fischer or Adams defense pending. On top of that, I would think we could find a cheaper vet utility guy who could play 1B and 3B at least as some insurance early in the year.

With how good this team has looked I find it hard to see us trading William and Megill. I could still see Megill just because we could replace the closer and have done it with all our past closers. We also probably should offer Bauers the QO at this point, he is going to be one of the top 3-5 bats on the market and with the playoff heroics last night him getting $50 and netting us a pick is much more likely. If he excepts great we can probably get at least a decent bullpen arm for Vaughn.

I agree with offering Bauers the QO.  If he accepts, great. They have him for one season at $23M. If he looks to cash in, all the power to him.  I don’t think the brewers should offer him more than a two year deal.  I would think his season and post season heroics should net him 4 years, $60M.

If he stays, trade Vaughn. Adams can come up and play the bench RH hitting backup IF role.  If he goes, they receive a draft pick and can use Black / Burke in the Bauers role.  I would imagine Black until Burke is beyond some threshold and proving himself ready.

I also like hanging onto Contreras and Turang. At least until they know what the new CBA is. There might be some provisions regarding hanging on to players or better revenue sharing that will enable smaller market teams to resign their players.

If the Brewers get to the WS it should get them an extra $30M+ in playoff revenue alone. If they win the WS just the increase in franchise value could approach a half-billion $ or more. Attanasio has shown he will spend if the revenue is there.

If I’m the team, I’m not wanting to insert a rookie at 3B or a platoon at at 1B. I’m offering Bauers the QO and hoping to negotiate an extension with him along with bringing back the entire team less Vaughn if Bauers is retained.

Increase the payroll with the extra revenue and go win, hopefully what would be their second title in a row, creating baseball’s first Small-Market Dynasty.

5 years/$100M for May *blue*

Any questions?

sounds like a recipe a lot of teams take to sink their franchise after the WS.

offer Bill 3 year extension
offer min QO to Bauers and let him walk
trade one of Frelick/Mitchell
sell high on Hamilton

fish for the deals with pitchers but move on

Not all that interested in investing in May especially for that kind of money.

Returning rotation pieces:

1. Miz

2. Henderson

3. Gasser

4. Harrison

5. Drohan

6. Priester

7. Sproat

8. Crow

9. Gordon

10. Patrick

11. Stallings

I see Woodruff coming back on an incentive laden deal.  Plus, the minors have Hardin, Letson, and Knoth should all be at AAA at some point in 2027.

Another veteran type could be added to the mix, but at a reasonable rate.
