The Brewers close out their series in Los Angeles tonight, sending lefty Gasser to the mound against Yamamoto and the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.brewers_game_0814.png

I think we are scheduled to stick around for a few more after this one ;)

Rewatched some of the Field of Dreams game last night. The biggest thing I couldn't stop thinking about ... and I mean this as respectfully as possible to someone who means so much to so many around here ... is that we need to have an intervention with Paul Molitor about his hair :(

So we will see if it was one inning of magic that delayed the descent a game.

or maybe they will start to show semblance of a major league type offense for a little while.

long weekend left

This one feels like a paper loss but maybe we'll be able to carry over momentum from yesterday.

I'm curious to see if Uribe gets in the game.

Ditto on Uribe. Just really odd to see opportunities for his use go by the boards twice the last couple of days, even if there were certainly compelling reasons to keep him out both days.

He was warming up in the bullpen last night and would have pitched if they had made their comeback in the 8th inning rather than the 9th inning.

He was unavailable on Wednesday, because he personally requested more rest to Murphy after throwing nearly 60 high stress pitches over the weekend.

I know they made a big deal out of Kody Clemens and his dad, Roger, "Having a catch."  Well, what would be cooler is to have Samurai and his four kids to go Am Fam field and "Have a catch".  I didn't see the cool factor since the Clemens have been in most every MLB stadiums when Kody was growing up.

I don’t have super high expectations for this one . One of those that you just don’t feel a lot of pressure on and feel good that the worst case scenario is to be tied 1-1 because you stole one last night.

But, it’s still baseball and anything is within the realm of possibility. You’d love to see the offense build on last nights’ 9th inning.

Dodger Fans upset with Dave Roberts on Edwin Díaz pitching in the ninth:

"Give me another option. I have to have other options, and to be quite honest, none of those guys have really thrown the baseball great (lately).  Said it's on Díaz to execute.

Roberts' resources are so limited.  Guess they didn't spend enough money.

Still in first place today, will still be in first place tomorrow.

Been in first place since May 19th.

Before cutting the gap to three games a couple days ago, the last time the Cubs were that close was 2.5 games back on May 24th.

Still playing at what would be another Franchise Record 99/100 Win pace even after a GASP three game losing streak EXHALE and only one game over .500 for the month. "the offense...the offense" - General Kurtz, probably.

With the pitching match up, they will likely lose tonight. And that is fine. They are going to lose at least 16 more games this year and if they don't I'll gladly be wrong.

No one (especially regular IGT posters) thought this was a 99/100 Win team coming into the season so they are still playing with house money. No one thought they would have the best record in MLB since Murphy took over so they've really been playing with house money for three years now.

Team That Continually Exceeds Expectations Is Actually Disappointing - rejected Onions Sports headline, perhaps.

Let's say Murphy has already cost them FIVE games this year and they should instead be 80 W - 42 L. That would be a 106 Win pace for the season and I know no one thinks the Brewers are a 106 True Talent kind of team. (okay, maybe @torts does)

They cruised to relatively easy Division Wins in 2021 (five games), 2023 (nine games), 2024 (ten games), and 2025 (five games). Maybe having to fight and claw their way to the Division Title this year if that's what it comes down to will give them some momentum heading into the playoffs (though if they hold their current #1 seed or even GASP drop to #2 EXHALE they'll be getting some time off anyway).

Wildcard is the best case scenario.

I'm not sure they can avoid relegation at this point.

Looks like Holmes pitched a gem.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.
