Yeah, the Brewers 3.57 FIP is lowest in MLB but they are still running an even lower 3.37 ERA with that -0.20 deficit the 8th best in MLB.

That (along with just watching the games) would lead me to believe their actual performance is closer to their +43 DRS (6th) this year than it is their -3 FRV (16th) so far.

Wilson’s injury probably saved Grant Anderson from getting optioned.

Ironic that Civale has looked good in the BP after the Brewers informed him he'd be better off there. Too bad it's been with the Cubs.

Thielbar was never a Brewer. Maybe you have him mixed up with Milner who they just released.

It gets lost in the shuffle because Crow-Armstrong has been elite, as has the cubs offense, but Michael Busch is somehow slugging under .400 this season.

I think you can delete the word probably, at least for now. He still could be a pawn if we need Crow for a late season start, or something like that.

Does someone know the rules about keeping Wilson past the 15 days? It seems like kind of a loophole for not having to DFA a guy that has no options remaining, I could see bringing him back up during the last week of the season if he's ok and the Brewers have everything clinched.

Going down that path, the Cubs had Thursday off. The Brewers last off day was Monday. 

From the Cubs perspective these games are 7 of the last 10 of 13 days in a row. 

For the Brewers they are 7 of the last 10 of 16 days in a row. 

On this count I don’t think there’s any advantage either way.

Once a top 50 Brewers prospect, always a top 50 Brewers prospect. I did not see any evidence that he was ever on a top 30 list.

I took a little trip down memory lane today.

The year was 2007. It was mid-August, and somehow, my, your, our Milwaukee Brewers had done the unthinkable: they had made me buy in. This was an utterly new experience for me; I started to watch baseball with the expectation that something good might happen. Maybe they’ll make the playoffs, or even win the division!

The lead was something like a game and a half on the Cubs for 1st place. I tuned in to watch the start of a home series against the hated St. Louis Cardinals. I saw all the usual suspects being interviewed as part of the pre-game media, with the on-field reporter at the time asking something to the effect of: “how much does this series mean in light of the team’s success this year?” Every single interviewee I can remember (mainly the Hs: Hall, Hart, Hardy) said all the right things, but I could tell by their tone, their body language, and the look in their eye that they were nervous as heck. They hadn’t yet bought in to their own chances at success, and it showed. They promptly went out and got smoked, losing all three games and bringing themselves back into a virtual tie with Chicago.

To that team’s credit (and largely to the credit of the Herculean efforts of Fielder, Braun, and Hart, as well as Ned Yost’s steady, if sometimes questionable, hand at the till), they hung tough down the stretch and managed a winning record, which was still a huge achievement in my eyes. But I never quite forgot how unready that team was for playing with a division lead against rivals late in the season. They had to learn how to be winners, which is something that happens at both the individual and institutional level.

And so I was reminded of just how far we’ve come since then. I’ve been able to say every year for the last four years that this just might be the best Brewers team I’ve ever watched. 2011 and 2018 hurt really bad. Last year was about as deflating a final series as there can be. This team, though, looks like it’s better top to bottom than all of them, even though it may not count for anything in October. But I don’t think they’re nervous about this series this week, and neither am I. The Brewers have figured out how to be winners. I’m loving every minute of it.

Rehab stint can be up to 30 days. So this IL stint ensures that the Brewers can keep Wilson into and through the playoffs, u less they elect to bring him back up in September and then want to DFA him to swap out.

With Bauers' nagging leg/foot injuries, they aren't putting him in the OF much, and that makes playing both he and Vaughn in the field a no-go. You don't really want Vaughn playing 3rd. You could DH Vaughn, but Yelich might be - might be - coming around? Vaughn will play against lefties, I'd think, and that's be an opportunity to sit Yelich. too.

Yeah, Vaughn is a nice power option off the bench with the three lefties is a row in the middle of the order. Against a lefty, he'll play. You can either put him at first for Bauers or DH for Yelich. Just more options that way than the other.

Vaughn’s OPS is .740 against RHP this season. 1.009 OPS against LHP. It’s ok to use him as a pinch hitter.
