Couple of bad ABs from our lefties doomed that inning.

I don't think Gausman makes it two more full innings, but, even if he does, 6 outs is a lot to get for this Cubs pen. Have to keep it close, get a shot to steal it late.

Yelich has been hitting the ball better. Lara is also an option in the 2 spot. Hell, I would even take Mitchell there at the moment. Brice needs to be moved down. He's a black hole in the top of the order right now.

Lara, Ortiz, and others would be fine. They have options.

Got through 5 with Henderson. Can roll him out for the 6th with his pitch count. Facing Crow-Armstrong with no one to lead off.

If he keeps going with this Vaughn and Bauers lineup, you could slot those guys to 3-4, or hit Yelich or Mitchell 2 and keep them 4-5, but yeah...

Maybe worth a shot to move him down in the order. The bottom guys have produced lately. Problem is the same thing that I think plagued us against the Dodgers in the NLCS. If we don't get production from our LHB, it becomes a lot more difficult to score runs. Turang's one that just has to hit, no matter where he is.

We've done uncharacteristically badly at raising Gausman's pitch count (mid 70's) to get to that bullpen.

Smoltz says so much trash with the utmost confidence, and then it's immediately undercut. Said it with Chourio ("he isn't even looking to go to right center," just before he hits one to right center). Said it with the Cubs "getting Ben Brown back" despite Brown being done for the year. Then, he immediately talks about "pitchers used" as his own genius, proprietary statistic.

Henderson is so damn good, man. 2 runs in 6 innings against an elite offense. I can’t even be mad about the 2 runs he gave up. Just an MVP doing MVP things.
