It probably won't end up mattering but if it does end up mattering it won't be good for the Brewers because if that tiebreaker comes into play it will almost certainly mean the Braves have the tiebreaker because they closed out the year strong and the Brewers faded

Right - I was going more for "bragging rights" to be better head-to-head against ATL. We have a close battle for that

One more try for Harrison

I wouldn't mind seeing Misiorowski start on Sunday & skip Philly. His pitch count was kept tidy last night so it's doable. Maybe even give him the 60-70 pitches & out treatment.

I would assume that an hour of spraying champagne and a few glasses aren't going to dramatically affect anyone's performance today.

Yep. I've always thought the 'day after' effects of these celebrations is overblown. What we see in the locker rooms is a lot of exhilaration & blowing off steam.

Now, if this was one of the late 70s-early 80s teams.........🤔.

I vote for this too, for a couple reasons: 1.) I'd prefer not to give Phillies a preview of Miz this close to a potential playoff matchup with them (or of Logan for that matter, but I'm not sure they'll get around that one), and 2.) I'll be at the game Sunday! :)

Looks like a potential Game 1 lineup to me. Definitely not a hangover lineup!

I was kinda mapping this out the rest of the way and I think it makes sense to do this:

9/16v Pitt Henderson

9/20 v Balt Misiorowski (4 days rest, hasn’t done that much this year and avoids giving Philly a look at him. I don’t care if it’s a 3-4 inning start, but gives him a chance to work on a 4 days rest schedule since that’s likely what we will need in the playoffs)

9/22 v Phillies Henderson on 5 days rest

9/26 v cards Misiorowski (final tune up start on 5 days rest. Likely only a couple innings. Freddy went 2 IP last year in his final start)

9/27 v cards Henderson (final tune up start but on 4 days rest. Likely only a couple innings)

10/3 is game 1 of the DS. So if they map it out this way they’ll both have a chance to make 1 start on a 4 days rest schedule. Then they’ll have 6 days of rest before their first playoff start.

I don’t really care what they do with the rest of the starters. None of those guys are going to be asked to go more than 3-4 innings (mostly think Gasser and May will be the other “bulk” pitchers on the roster)

They would probably have to leave the bars and go straight to the stadium.

I'm sober. I can suit up.

No judgment on anyone who drinks alcohol but I haven’t had a drink in 42 years. I understand that not everyone shares my values or conservative worldview.

That said, I don’t believe “getting drunk” is a choice an adult makes. Moderation in all things - including alcohol - is wise … celebrations included.

I surely hope our team isn’t fighting a hangover because we have so much more to accomplish. Every game counts until we’ve sewn up the #1 NL Seed.

I’d love to see the Brewers win 100 games because it is such a rare feat these days.

It is unlikely that the Brewers would win a tiebreaker against the Braves  even in the highly unlikely event that the teams end in a tie. And yes I am intentionally stacking unlikely on top of unlikely.

For the teams to end up tied the Brewers would have to blow a 5,5 game lead in 11 games. That would require the “wrong” result in exactly 16 of 21 games. That would be a collapse similar to the 1964 Phillies who lost 10 games in a row to blow a 6 game lead with 12 games left. But 3 of those games were head to head against the Cardinals, who ended up winning the pennant, making the possibility of making up the deficit a little less improbable.

For the Brewers and Braves to end up tied, the Brewers would have to lose exactly 6 more games than the Braves the rest of the way.  That would mean the Braves going 10-0 to the Brewers 5-6 or the Brewers going 0-11 to the Braves 6-5, or some point in between. But, in any event, those 6 extra losses would probably flip the tiebreakers which are currently close in the Braves favor.

For the Brewers to win a tiebreaker their losses would have to fall just right. For example, in the Braves going 11-0 scenario, if the Brewers won the 5 games against the Pirates and Cardinals and lost the other 6, the Brewers would win the division tiebreaker at 36-16 to the Braves 35-17. But if just one of the losses were to come against one of the Central teams, the Brewers would lose the intraleague tiebreaker.

So, I’m just going to ignore the tiebreaker and count down the magic number from 6 to 0. The odds of the Brewers winning a tiebreaker over the Braves may not be astronomical, but they are several times larger than the probability of the Brewers losing the division were 10 days ago.

There are books of the Bible that are shorter than this post. 😂

I’d rest him until the final series then let him go 4-5 innings so he’s on regular rest and rust free for game 1 of the NLDS

Here’s the short version…..if we end up in a tie we won’t win the tie breaker……

Based on the MLB's established clinching rules, there is simply zero logic here. There is no longer such thing as a "shared" division championship or a Game 163. Choosing not to acknowledge rules doesn't mean they don't exist.

Plain and simple.  IT'S THE STINKING CUBS!   Other than the Cardinals I would accept the tie-breaker.  This is about principle.

That was basically the first sentence of the post.

The rest was for the benefit of anyone who wanted to know why.

That's an option, too. I just don't know if they want him going 9-10 days btwn starts.

Mitchell was pulled pretty early in Sunday's game - I don't recall hearing anything about that being injury-related and he played the whole game yesterday. They can afford to be cautious, but my antennae are up a little bit.

Speaking of Mitchell, who had him tied for 3rd on the team in games played to this point of the season?

I guess drawing names out of a hat can bring on some weird end results.
