It's hard to ranks teams from different generations but where do you think this team lands since 2000? 103 wins, 11-2 in the playoffs maybe the best bullpen ever.

I put them just above the Royals so somewhere in the middle.  Not the greatest team in WS history but also not the worst (Cardinals 2006).

Probably in the top 10 but definitely no lower than 12.

I was thinking about those 90's Yankees teams and yes there were some big stars, but the dynasty part was driven by having the supporting cast having the complimentary quality to it. Once you adjust for era our stars this year are pretty good too. So I'd put the current crop in the top 5 since 2000

That Cardinals team was underrated, IMO. They were 80-69 before going into a tailspin at the end of the season. They weren't an amazing team by any means, but certainly better than 83-78 and the reputation they carry because of that.

As for this Brewers team, they have to be in the top quartile of champions. They led baseball in wins in a league that was WAY HARDER than the American League, and then they went 11-2 in the postseason. There's no way to compare this team against others and not have them come out looking favorably.

Defending the Cardinals?  How many points can I dock you for that?? Is that a week vacation? Lifetime ban?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Gotta put the 11-2 in context for who we beat for those 11 wins too. To be the best we beat the best.

Since 2000? This has to be a top 5 or so team, all things considered. 2016 Cubs, 2018 Red Sox, 2009 Yankees, 2022 Astros, and us. I'd have us ahead of the 2 Dodger teams.

This team was excellent all year. We'll have lots of offseason to delve into the stats, but I think the run will absolutely hold up.

Tim Kurkjian has us 5th since the beginning of the Divisional Era (1969).  He has 1998 Yankees, 1976 Reds, 1989 A’s and 1970 Orioles ahead of us.  I agree with him.  103 wins, take out the hottest team in baseball (Padres) in a 3-1 display, sweeping the two time defending champs and season long Vegas favorite (LA), before going up 3-0 on the best of the AL before settling for the gentleman’s sweep in Tampa.  I agree with Tim.

But looking beyond that, a win on Tuesday night would also cement this Brewers team as an all-time great, one that compares favorably with the great World Series champions of the 21st century and well beyond that.

I took a quick look at World Series winning teams’ regular season fWAR over the past 20 years (ignoring 2020 as all reasonable people should). The 2026 Brewers put up 50.4 fWAR.

Seven winners put up more fWAR: the three Red Sox champs, the two Astros champs, the 2009 Yankees, and the 2016 Cubs. So that’s three repeat champs (the Yankees won recently before the 20-year window) — three of the four big-market behemoths of the 21st century — and our friends to the south.

The Dodgers are a strange story. The 2024 champs posted about 47 fWAR, the 2025 repeaters who waxed the Brewers only 42. The 2026 iteration was the best version, posting 52.6 fWAR, but it didn’t matter.  (BTW, the 2025 Brewers put up more fWAR than the Dodgers, 47.1).

The only other repeat champs in this period, the 2010-2014 even-year Giants, put up the worst, third-worst, and fifth-worst fWARs of the 19 winners. (Second and fourth on that ignominious list are the 2011 Cardinals and 2021 Braves, both of course infamous Brewers heartbreakers.)

This all likely means nothing. However, it seems a little interesting that the most talented teams have been repeat winners, and the less talented teams have been one and done, with the exceptions in either direction of the Cubs and Giants. The 2026 Brewers weren’t miles better than the 2019 Nationals or 2021 Rangers, but they were better.

It seems like the Brewers, by this measure, are in a very realistic position to contend for more titles in the next several years, especially when you consider how young their core is and how little value they’re losing to free agency this winter.

They won it in a year when the NL was flexing. They had a really, really good record against winning teams. They were consistent. They ran away with the division in a year when the Cubs won 90+ games. The run through the playoffs was a gauntlet. They beat arguably the hottest team in baseball, arguably the best team of the decade, then the best the AL had to offer. 9 of the 11 pitchers they faced in the post season were all stars at one point in the their careers. 5 Cy Young awards.

This was the opposite of a "cheapy" title. They took on the whole weight of the season from start to finish. So much of this year won't be remembered by outsiders beyond 103 wins and the first ever title - but given the scenario (height of the league's salary disparity/lockout looming, losing the top 3 pitchers from the year prior, youngest staff in baseball, first ever title, Uecker hovering etc) plus all of the above mentioned...

I can't say where they rank in terms of best baseball teams to win it but best story? I don't see one better..

Not sure if that article linked mentioned it, but I saw before it ended that they would be only the 3rd team since the WC to have best record, best run differential, and win the WS.  And I think only like the 9th ever?

Add in that they also did by going 11-2 in the playoffs vs the other best teams including sweeping a 100 win two time defending champ and I think it's tough not to give them top 5 since then (WC era last 30ish years).   Though 'eye testing' on paper they won't look as good as some stacked Yanks/Red Sox lineup but I chalk a lot of that up to our brains (and computers) still think in the old terms of SP and big hitters, and don't fully account for how the Brewers manage their pitching/pen so differently

'18 Red Sox are the best I've seen IMO. One of the reasons I have always coped with losing the NLCS, I don't think we had a chance against that team.

The Yankees dynasty team that won 114, I think 98? Before my time, but I always see the '76 Reds on those lists too.

Yes I am a Brewers fan but I'm hard pressed to find 10 better than this one.

How do guys think the 2016 Cubs would do against the current Brewers? On paper, Cubs have the edge. Basically an even better version of the '26 Brewers during the regular season, but also nearly lost to the Indians whom the Brewers probably could've swept.
