The shift is really starting to get to me.

I have gotten to the point of assuming everything that hits the mound is an out.

Narvaez! Love getting an early run on a bullpen day for the opponent.

Yelich heating up over the past three weeks is a very exciting development for this team’s hope for playoff success.

I was thinking that today, too. He could get hot the last month and carry us in the playoffs and all the regular season struggles will be more than forgotten (from my standpoint).

Yelich - double

Narvaez - RBI single

Tellez - walk

All against a lefty. Really nice to see.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

A lot of hard hit balls that inning.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

The Giants just picked up Jose Quintana off waivers today... I'll let others comment

I would expect him to be starting at least 2 of the last 3 games of the series because of a recommendation to the Giants from Joe Maddon.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Are there more line drives right at infielders these days? Sure seems like it. Infield positioning has gotten so, so good. It's really something.

Any rocket up the middle is an out. There’s always a guy there.

On the flip side, any time you see a guy hit the ball the other way on the ground or a low liner, it's almost always a hit these days.

The Reds slowing down over the last 20 games (just 10-10) can partly be attributed to Joey Votto slowing way down. Over the last 15 games his ops is under . 700 (just .684)

One of the main reasons why the Reds were able to keep pace-ish with us back in July was because Votto was white hot. Now that he's cooled off and the rest of the team is being asked to do the heavy lifting, they're not.

Winker going on the IL hasn’t helped them either.

If you haven’t seen a game at SF, I recommend it highly. Beautiful park, great food, downtown location, spectacular setting. Number one on my list of parks (I’ve been to 28).

I'm assuming the Brewers announced their lineup before Cueto's absence was revealed?

Should’ve challenged that one. Belt’s foot definitely lost contact with the base prior to catching the ball.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Might have just decided to stay with it since it was going to be a bullpen game ……who knows.

Go Burnes, but I hate it when our pitchers have to run the bases. I don't need that anxiety.

Station to station Burnesy

And under no circumstances should he or any other pitcher ever dive back to the bag. I'll take the out every time. Please...

Yeah you're probably right

Garlic fries are overrated. Have a peak marginal utility of about four fries, then quickly diminishing returns.

3rd inning, 3rd pitcher for the Giants. I think for the overall series, that's not a bad thing.

Yeah, a bullpen game in game one of a four-gamer can only pay dividends over the course of the series....
