I liked Toro at one point. He had some really good years in the minors but it just hasn't translated to the bigs yet. He has that positional flexibility the Brewers like.

Not a great return, but fills 2 mlb needs

I’m pretty happy with it. Winker has a rack record in the NLC that would fit nicely for us. Some upside with Toro.

Literally proposed a Winker for Wong swap when it was initially rumored that the Mariners were interested. Sure, Winker had a down year last season, but he's still only 29, and had an OPS+ of 141 the previous two seasons. He's your regular DH.

Toro is the filler in this deal. His numbers look like Arcia's....

Upside? Toro couldn't get above the Uecker line in over 300 ABs. Winker was atrocious last year.

And to be honest... why Winker when you had Frelick/Mitchell/Taylor/Ruiz/Yelich already? Not saying the Crew can't flip him if the issue is forced, but I'd rather have gotten A/ACL/DSL lottery tickets.

Toro is Canadian. Doug Melvin approves.

141 OPS+ in 2021 and 2020 is a heck of a lot of upside with Winker. And still only 29. He's not playing in the field, so the only person affected is Yelich.

Yeah I think you'll still see Frelick and Mitchell starting in the OF along with Yelich.  Winker is DH.  Thought maybe they'd move Yelich to DH but starting to think they're not ready to do that yet.

Winker hit lefties well this year after struggling against them most of his career. I’m just bummed if this means we’re delaying Frelick.

Still need a true RHH power bat, with starting catcher being the main spot available (announce trade for Danny Jansen!). Good news for Brice Turang though!

As a Brewers/Mariners fan, here's my take (some of this was in the rumors thread as well):

Winker -- a complete disaster in 2022 other than his high OBP. One of the worst defensive outfielders and baserunners that I have ever seen at the MLB level. Played himself out of the lineup and was left off the playoff roster. Received criticism for his lack of work ethic. I'm sure the Brewers will give him an occasional start in the OF but he's better off as a DH. I suspect the change of scenery will be a good thing and he will benefit from the shift ban and the shorter right-center field wall at AmFam.

Toro -- this is a smart pickup by the Brewers. He's been behind Dylan Moore in Seattle but was solid at both 3B and 2B. Has some pop in his bat especially from the left side. Statistically he has been quite unlucky and the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park didn't help either. I think his xBA was quite a bit higher than his average.

Honestly this is a pretty good return for the Brewers -- both of these guys have a ton of upside and could make meaningful contributions in 2022. We needed some depth at the MLB level and we got it.

This is a Brice Turang post. Welcome to the Big Dance, young fella. Y'all are going to love watching him play. Hopefully, the bat evolution continues. He made big big strides in his hands last year and we started seeing a bit of power pop play. I'm excited - he's as steady as they come in the field.

basically none lol. it's very easy to look up players salaries

Yeah, Winker at 8.25 million in his last season before FA, Toro at 1.4 projected Arby's with four seasons of team control remaining.

Work ethic for winker will certainly be solved by the fact that he’s a free agent after this season.  I love this trade, amazing they gave up on winker already

If they can contribute in 2022 and retroactively get us into the playoffs, that would be awsome! Maybe we actually won the WS!
