WI native (Mequon). Young, controllable, right-handed. 91st percentile 0AA btw 1B and 2B. Also, 90th percentile sprint speed. Doesn't strike out a lot.

BUT he doesn't hit the ball all that hard.

Hard to be angry, though, when we gave up virtually nothing for him. Defense and speed are going to be a big part of the team this year and going forward.

Fine.  Versatile player.  Not much power.  Bats righthanded which is good I guess.

Reverse splits, but pretty bad against both, although still quite young.

Bonus points for dating my co-worker's daughter for all of high school (he went to Ozaukee High School in Fredonia).

Only thing I know about Miller (so far) is that he had a superhuman start to the 2022 season. I think he was hitting like .450 for the first couple weeks. So he was near the top of the free agent board in my fantasy points league, even though his points didn't continue to go up very much across the entire remainder of the season. ?

Curious what is driving the difference on his defensive metrics. He's 91st percentile in OAA but -0.7 dwar(tied for last on CLE last season) & he was -1 DRS as well. Those seem like polar opposites. He's also very fast but rarely steals bases.

Would assume him & Toro will battle in spring for the Jace Peterson role with the other being optioned to Nashville

I was updating my co-worker every day.  Telling him how much a batting champ was likely to make in free agency.   Aaahhhh,.,,,,,,,,good times.

I was sooo high on Mario. :(  This is disappointing to say the least.

I thought Toro was our Jace replacement.

Miller, Toro, Brosseau, and Turang all have options. It's just stockpiling optionable depth.

Hopefully Mario can sneak through, be outrighted to the minors and have a good season in Nashville without worrying about using his final option. Can't say I know much about this Miller guy except he had that hot start batting over 400 with an OPS north of 1 for the month of April and then a 500 OPS guy the rest of the way.

Fall out from Contreras trade. Feliciano in last option year and not yet ready for prime time. Hiura’s seat is getting warmer unless all these infielders are going to play at AAA

While Owen Miller can "play" all the INF spots, SS is likely the weakest of the 4 positions for him.

When he is hot... play him as often as possible.   Heck he was hitting cleanup with a ton of doubles in the early part of 2022 season.  When he isn't hot (the majoity of the time)... he will be frustrating to watch.

Tito played him all over the place across 2 years..  I got the sense he is someone better suited to be playing/ focusing on just 1 place.   He seemed to make many of the routine plays, but there would be a bonehead mess-up from time to time which made fans question his focus/ ability..   Not everyone is suited to be a utility guy and that might be the case for Owen.

Either way, I wish him the best moving forward.

Looks like a trio of reasons to take a stab acquiring Owen.

1. WI homegrown.

2. Will have option ability to shuttle if/when needed.

3. Age&growth. Did bat over .300 in his brief AAA experience in '21. His callup was mediocre batting line. That batting line improved in 2022 age 26.

He's a 2020 casualty to lost in game experience and projection. Does he improve on what he did in 2022? Within premium age 26-29.

Spring Training will be great for fans from WI and Owen being a draw for them

For Mario-hope he finds a new home. GL to him, I wish he'd have had a bigger impact playing for the Brewers. Was apromising prospect to follow.

Not just Hiura's seat getting warm but also Brosseau's....

I really hope not. I don't see a good reason to get rid of Brooseau. His ability to hit lefties is huge.

Fun stuff, man. Rather than going out to get a real 2B/3B, we're throwing darts at the board (cheaply) hoping they stick. Good ole Mark!

And just like that, the positivity of the offseason is over.

You don’t need to spend money on FA to have a good offseason, and if you can address needs not giving out huge FA bucks, huge bonus. I think they have had a pretty decent first month of the offseason.

Thing that hurts Brosseau is his subpar defense and inability to play SS, or even 2B. Plus, last season he didn't even hit LHP all that extraordinarily with a .764 OPS. Granted, it's better than what some of our hitters did, but for someone whose calling-card is hitting LHP it's not enough.

This move has no bearing on whether the Brewers sign a guy like Turner.

This seems like a lot of angst over someone who currently projects as the new Pablo Reyes.
