Against the lefty today I'm expecting Brosseau, Miller, & Voit all get a start. Would be really nice to sweep a good team and head into the St. Louis series with the momentum to their backs

The combo of start time and pace of play for yesterday was pretty amazing. I couldn't believe actually having time after a baseball game to watch some other TV. I might even bother to tune in now to West coast games. Definitely a fun start to the season and still undefeated 4-0 AW (after Weimer).

I'm LOVING it. As a person who now runs sites for three teams, staying abreast of all the happenings is challenging. While I'm usually 50/50 on whether I'm watching the Twins or Brewers based on which game is more intriguing, the improved pace of play has allowed me to watch a lot more baseball this season. It's fantastic. I've been clamoring for a pitch clock for several years now and even I am surprised by how much I enjoy it.

Maybe Wiemer sees his first action in CF today? Anderson in RF, Brosseau at 3B, Miller at 2B and Voit at 1B? No idea who would DH with that lineup though.

Wiemer made his 1st start in CF which was against a lefty. In that game Anderson was in RF, Brosseau at 3b, and Voit at DH. Rowdy played 1st still

I couldn't get to the game thread last night. But no matter; I had nothing to say because I was struck dumb, in a good way.  Can we do it again today, please?

I think this is a weirdly big game for the crew, I've just done a piece on it, but they really struggled to generate momentum last season, in particular when the opportunity came to sweep a series and apply pressure to those around them (namely the cards will feel a little already if they're 3 games down before coming to town). With Burnes on the mound, hopefully mere solidity can get them over the line and into the next series on a big big high with a statement sweep

Not super enthused about Winker facing a lefty, but options are limited.

I understood that we'd probably rest two of Rowdy/Yelich/Turang/Mitchell. Didn't expect to see Winker in the lineup at all:

  • (A) Turang 2B, Miller-Brosseau-or-Voit DH, other two play 3B + 1B.
  • (B) Mitchell CF, Wiemer RF, Anderson-Voit-or-Brosseau DH, other two play 3B + 1B.

Oh well, let's win!!!

I've been switching between baseball and hockey and with the 6:40 starts the baseball games are easily finishing ahead of 7:10 hockey games which is super weird.

I actually wish they would go back to 7:10 start times now, which is a strange thing to say.

Football is kind of the odd sport out now with 3-3.5 hours games. I wonder if fans are going to notice this fall.

I've started to notice how long college football games feel the last few years.

With Mitchell playing elite defense would rather they kept him in CF and DH Yelich but I understand it is just one game. If they never start Mitchell against lefties it will be disappointing.

The Brewers have 640 starts on weeknights until mid June. Then they go to 710 starts on weeknights and go back to 640 starts in September.

I wonder if it has something to do with school schedules

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Counsell benching top prospect rookies against lefties for second lefty. Loser manager making loser decisions.

Some people are just impossible to please.

I couldn't be more thrilled with how we are starting the season. But forgive me for not wanting Owen Miller taking starts from Turang. Imagine if Bryce Harper was platooned on arrival in the majors. It's just stupid, it's a loser decision from a loser manager. These guys aren't going to get better against lefties unless they face lefties, and both were plenty good against lefties in the minors so there's really no good reason to protect them from lefties...especially Turang who had slightly better numbers against LHP than RHP in the minors.

Your argument would hold more weight if you used something besides "loser decision from a loser manager" to make it. Counsell is demonstrably not a loser manager, so you're undercutting your point by using an objectively false ad hominem attack.

Yeh - Winker has already demonstrated that he can’t hit lefties.  I’ll have to check Turangs and Mitchell’s minor league splits.  And why rest Telez after he finally hits one; knowing his track record against LHP.
