Anybody could’ve seen how bad the Cards rotation was heading into the season…Except for the national analysts who collectively went gaga over them.

A makeable play by Tovar on Walker's liner, and McMahon's error let the Cards in, they were a little lucky but rallied well. Could kickstart their season, as another loss would've been fairly denting to the clubhouse morale

At this moment, the Brewers are in first in the division and the Cardinals are in last.

I hope someone posts this exact sentence on Oct 1st

They aren’t posting it this morning.

I would think that people would learn that the Cardinals are never a dumpster fire for very long. As an organization they always have the resources in both players and cash to put together a contending team.

I don’t think they are panicking about a 5-7 start.any more than they were about being 4 games behind the Brewers in late July last year.

*right now

I have no doubt that the Cardinals will be in the thick of things. But that doesn't mean that I'm not enjoying the predictions that their starting rotation would be terrible coming true. They'll probably eventually find some no-name starter in the minors to come in and reel off 15 wins with a sub-3 ERA, and likely con some poorly-run team into handing over a top starter for peanuts at the deadline. It seemingly happens every year.

The Cards pitching staff didn’t look like that much of a dumpster fire last weekend as they held the Brewers to 10 runs in 3 games.

I enjoy every Cardinals loss, but I don’t think they’re the disaster some are making them out to be, even right now.

Right. It's not like their pitching looked awesome on paper last year going into the year either. But, like the Cardinals almost always do, they found a way..   Not that I wouldn't enjoy a year where the tires fall of the car or whatever that saying is, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Oh man, in no universe are the Reds or Pirates or Cubs better than this Cardinals team...not right now. I'm certainly going to enjoy the Cardinals having the worst record in the division for as long as it lasts. That team somehow winning 60 games would be hilarious but it would take like 8 major injuries and even then probably isn't realistic.

While the Brewers scored 35 runs across 4 games early on, they've scored 23 runs total in the other 8. I'm not sure holding the Brewers up as an example in this instance is the way to go. In fact, it might actually make the opposite point you're trying for.

Cards have to finish below .500 at some point right? I don't think it's particularly likely just due to how good Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Walker are, but a guy can dream, right? Main thing is that they don't appear to be the clear NL Central frontrunner most people thought they were due to how awful their starting pitching has been.

Their pitching sucks.

If everyone stays healthy, I think the Brewers win the division easily.

Because it is all but an absolute certainty that there will be injuries (in addition to the ones that have already sprouted up) that isn’t exactly going out on a limb.

All things being equal.

Obviously.

Credit the Cardinals for a big win today. Contreras had a full count in the 10th inning and drew a one out walk. It could easily have been two outs, trailing by a run.

Cardinals narrowly avoid falling to 6-10. Instead, 7-9 and they host the Diamondbacks this week.

The Brewers at 13-5 is even more exciting given the lack of cupcake opponents.

Pirates and Cubs still playing well and Cardinals are 6 GB. Cardinals run differential doesn’t provide immediate hope for a quick turnaround.

The Cardinals lost 8-7, largely thanks to Nick Ahmed roping this pitch for a 2-run double instead of striking out. The next batter then smoked a 3-run homer.

ST. LOUIS -- Judging by his fourth-inning double Tuesday night in the D-backs' 8-7 win over the Cardinals, Nick Ahmed could have been one heck of a cricket player. With the bases loaded and the D-backs shortstop facing a 2-2 count, left-hander Jordan Montgomery threw a curveball that bounced before

I’m not sure about the Cardinals and it’s not their talent, I think Oliver Marmol has that clubhouse on edge and if there’s trouble in the clubhouse it will show up on the field. I guess time will tell if he’s a good fit with the Card’s
