I really don’t blame Uribe as much as Counsell. I would have gotten him out of there after the Kim walk. It will be interesting to hear CC’s rationalization at the post-game interview, IF the even ask him that question.

Probably a very simple Milner need another batter to be ready?

Remember when everyone was complaining about the horrible deadline we had?

To say that now, you'd have to squint your eyes really hard and only see Chafin.

Cahna is still very mediocre. How didn't he make that catch at the wall today?

He had a 94 wRC+ before going 2-5 today with 2 RBI and a run scored. He’s also been pretty clutch with his +0.75 WPA ranking 4th on the team entering the game.

Either way, with bottom three in MLB production from DH (80 wRC+) and RF (69 wRC+) this year, mediocrity is a significant upgrade.

I don't understand some of those letters and numbers, but I get "mediocrity is a significant upgrade."

The general notion has pretty much always been if this team could hit they have a chance. They been hitting and they are winning. Seems about right.

To me.    This is the simplest part of the analysis.     We were the worst offense in the NL.    now we aren’t.   That’s why we are winning.

Our RFs have been a major defensive asset, while Cahna hasn't been as advertised defensively. Not much change their in the overall impact despite the improvement to mediocrity offensively. Santana has been the only real deadline addition.

The huge surge lately has more to do with Contreras becoming the hitter we all knew he was, while the bullpen remains amazing and is getting deeper. Getting Woody and Miley back has been awesome.

Can I say that I’ve been a member of the hoby Milner appreciation club when it wasn’t cool.   😀

also.    Yelich carried us when everyone on the team was hitting poorly.     And now the rest of the team has returned the favor lately.     It’s ok if he starts hitting again.    We are going to need him to do something the rest of the year

looking at the cubs schedule the rest of the way I would be surprised if this thing stays close at all.  they pretty much have to sweep us twice and get help.

A nice weekend of seeing two Brewers wins.

Those big innings are fun, though the walks today by both teams made for a pretty ugly game.

Anyway, I don’t agree with this comment. I don’t think the Cubs remaining schedule is any harder than the Brewers’ and we’ve seen how often things don’t go as expected. Ask the Rangers how quickly things can change in one week.

If the Cubs can win 2 out of 3 in each of their two series that would give them the tiebreaker. And they’d only have to pick up 2 additional games in their other 8 series.

I’m still expecting the division to be decided in that final series.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Cubs schedule is objectively tougher. 7 series against playoff teams or teams in the playoff race and 3 series against teams out of it.

Brewers have 5 of each.

I don't disagree that this thing is going to end up pretty close, but the Cubs' remaining schedule is harder than the Brewers. .506 OPP W% vs. .485 W%. They've still got 3 vs. the Braves, 7 vs. Dbacks, 4 vs. Reds, 3 vs. Giants.

After this week, the Brewers will have the Marlins as their toughest and only opponent above .500 until they face the Cubs in the last series of the season. Brewers' schedule is objectively easy and is only going to be getting easier moving forward.

The brewers are 6 games up on reds and 8 on giants for last wild card spot.

brewers are looking pretty good right now

7 games technically on the Reds with the tiebreaker. They would have to finish one game ahead of us.

We need to get through this cubs Phillies week and I think we will have a pretty clear picture of where we are

Does Megill have a nickname? Because he desperately needs one.

A writer on another website referred to him as "Sasquatch".

I like it.

I see a lot of pressure on the Cubs this series. At a minimum they need to win the series, even then they only make up 1 game in the standings, but they give themselves a chance to be in position that final series. Losing the series though means not only do they fall another game back, but then we only need to win 1 game in the final series to have the tie-breaker. If the Brewers somehow sweep it would certainly feel all but over with effectively an 8 game lead at that point.

I could see Houser going on the in injured list, just so the Brewers can add a fresh arm. Who do you want to see? I'd like Thyago Vierra.

Depends when you look at it. Looks a lot tougher than a week and a half ago when Arizona was below .500 and the Reds were slightly above .500.
