I know Devin White was bad last year but 1/7.5 seems like a steal. Him and Quay could have been epic.

I have sort of hoped they may land him as I think they liked him the year he was drafted. But he apparently has really turned off a lot of teams for whatever reason, ex top 5 picks still young usually get overpaid in FA. Jerome Baker?

I'd be happy with Baker, we missed on Bobby Wagner, and Josey Jewell as well. My guess is we draft someone and/or maybe add a vet after the next cut dates.

Do we really even have much FA money left after McKinney? I would think whatever we have left is reserved for picking up training camp cuts and frontloading Love's extension.

Other than Love we don’t have a ton of guys to extend in the next couple of years. The entire offense is on rookie deals except Jenkins and Jacobs right now. I think we can afford another free agent or 2 if they are the right fit, cap needs to be look at over years rather than what space or dead cap we have at the moment. I do agree long term it would be nice to front load Love’s deal but I am not sure how much it matters with cap growing the way it does.

Yes. We have more than enough to sign if there was someone the Packers wanted. They're ~35M after you account for Campbell being cut. They have plenty of money if there was someone they wanted.

I also really doubt they frontload Love's extension. There's really no reason to other than to limit what they can do.

It wasn't just last year, he has not been a good LBer in the NFL.

They're in a really good place when it comes to the Cap.

Love is going to get probably 5/250 added on. Hopefully, they can keep that at ~110 in GTD money...though I doubt it.

I think...maybe Tom after that? What's the expression? Keep paying the Zach Tom types, letting the JRJ's walk(17GTD and 3/30 for him?) and the Packers will be in good shape.

Still another ~50M in dead cap this year, ~25 next year and...that's the end of the "cap hell," they were in. They don't need to keep drafting like they have the last two years...but it'd sure help!

Packers are one of two (?) teams eligible for the Brazil trip.  Reading the tea leaves, I think Green Bay is going to be playing internationally this season.

I am going to laugh a lot from all the crying if it is a Packers home game.  The tears will be glorious!!!!!

If it is the Eagles as Murphy speculated, that is a road game for the Packers.

They've got nine home games this year so even if they "lost" one it would still be the standard six games Green / two games Gold split.

It's pretty annoying that the NFL would pull something like this after season tickets have been paid for. But I don't think they would put 2 Packer home games international in 3 years, Murphy wouldn't allow it.

Confirming what I said earlier, either the Packers or the Browns will play "at Philadelphia" (road game) in Sao Paulo, Brazil...

Which I'm guessing will be on, presumably, NBC in local markets?

The Eagles are designated the Home Team, the Packers the Road team.

The Packers will still have 9 home games this year.

The international home teams were announced months ago, the Packers were never losing a home game this year.  As part of the deal to add the 17th game every team has to host an international game every eight years, so the Packers likely next lose a home game in 2030.

Yes for Green Bay & Milwaukee, no for the other Packers TV Network affiliates in the state.  Think about an NFL Network simulcast, rather than a preseason game.

Speaking of the 17 game schedule, next season are we scheduled to be the road team against the AFC West like we were in 2021 or since this will be the second go around of the 17 game schedule is the NFC going to be home again so we don't travel to the AFC West and North and host the AFC East and South every time?

Packers signed OT Andre Dillard, former 1st round pick in 2019 and a guy who they brought in for a visit that year.  Tested really well, 9.81 RAS, got injured and played terrible last year from what Titans media/fans say.  PFF grade of 51 with 12 sacks credited against.

My guess is that they look at him on the interior, given how poorly he played at OT and the need for interior depth.

Probably. He was similar to Walker in '21 at OT, but he was brutal last year.

Athletic and maybe they can work on his technique and patience at OT. Seems like he lunges at Edge rushers and gets off balance.

A lot of people are upset over this. Not entirely sure why. He's just a body to provide depth. Certainly not a lock to make the team.

I started thinking about our depth chart now after the draft:

QB:

  • Locks: Love
  • Bubble: Clifford and Pratt - Will be interesting to see if there are one or both that make the team.

RB:

  • Locks: Jacobs, Lloyd,
  • Bubble: Dillon, Wilson - Most likely both make it, but I could see where an UDFA comes and impresses.

WR:

  • Locks: Reed, Watson, Doubs, Wicks
  • Bubble: Melton, Toure, DuBose, Heath - Melton has the leg up here.  I'm interested in what DuBose will bring.  I'm guessing Toure and Heath are cut in favor of others as they pretty much plateaued last year.

TE:

  • Locks: Musgrave, Kraft
  • Bubble: Sims, Davis - again both probably make the team, but could use an upgrade at blocking TE if we can find it.

IOL:

  • Locks: Myers, Rhyan, Jenkins, Monk
  • Bubble: Jennings, Newman - I'm sure there are OTs that will flex some inside too.  Jennings was a priority UDFA with a guaranteed salary, so a good chance for him too.

OT:

  • Locks: Tom, Walker, Morgan
  • Bubble: Dillard, Jones, Telfort, Tenuta, Glover - Dillard brings starter experience, but might also be tried at G.  Jones, Telfort, and Tenuta have been UDFA/Waiver pickups being developed ala Nijman.  This is a make-or-break year for them.

DL:

  • Locks: Clark, Brooks, Wooden, Wyatt
  • Bubble: Slaton - just depends on how many they keep.  The 4-3 doesn't have a traditional NT, so the fit isn't great either.

DE:

  • Locks: Gary, Van Ness, Smith, Enagbare
  • Bubble: Cox - Cox is a bit light for DE.  Better fit at OLB.  Good opportunity for UDFAs here.

LB:

  • Locks: Walker, McDuffie, Cooper, Hopper
  • Bubble: Wilson, Welch - Wilson is a decent floor for a starter, but expect Cooper to pass him.  Both here could make the team but are mainly ST contributors.  Opportunities for UDFAs here.

Safety:

  • Locks: McKinney, Johnson, Bullard, Williams
  • Bubble: Oladapo - Normally, I'd say a 5th round pick is a lock, but at some point we run out of roster spots.  With the CB depth looking like a bunch of UDFAs, I'd guess we keep 5 safeties.

CB:

  • Locks: Alexander, Stokes, Valentine, Nixon
  • Bubble: Ballentine, King, Rochell - Balentine has the leg up, but depth is a bit concerning.  Hoping someone steps up with the UDFA (or traditional FA spot).  Maybe even waiver pickups at cut time.

K:

  • Bubble: Carlson, Joseph - I think Carlson has the "leg up" as Joseph (after years of development) is about the same as Carlson's rookie year.  Carlson's upside is better, IMO

P:

  • Lock: Whelan - No competition yet (though there will be).  But at this point, bringing someone of consequence is unlikely.

LS:

  • Bubble: Orzech, Bowden - Orzech is the experienced one, but didn't really lock himself in last year.  Packers went after Bowden and gave him a signing bonus as an UDFA, so I assume they like him.  May the best Badger win!

Nixon at CB?

Also, given that they traded up for him, I think that Evan Williams is a lock.

Yeah, I forgot Williams was a high 4th round pick; I was thinking he was later.  So many picks to keep track of! 😂

Historically, we tend to keep our draft picks or at least many of them.  This is a year to probably keep more S and fewer CBs.

Nixon - hmmm... Looks like I have to fire my copy editor!

Patrick Mannelly Award finalist, top recruit out of San Diego and one of the only snappers given a draftable grade. Went to the Senior Bowl. Has consistent placement, which Orzech struggled with, but lacks velocity in long snaps to the punter. Is also a bit undersized. I know Bowden is a Badger but I wanted us to get Joe Shimko.

I think Slaton is a lock, every scheme needs a big run stuffer and none of the others really fit that. Before switching to 3-4 we used Gilbert Brown, Grady Jackson and Pickett at DT. I actually sort of expect Slaton to get extended if he doesn't suck or get hurt next season.
