Yeah even if it's not now, you almost expect Gasser will need TJ in the next couple years. Feel like when elbow issues pop up like this, you're going to eventually need TJ.

It does feel like that.

1-Bone spurs

2-Tightness and sore

3-Forearm soreness

4-Injections and rehab

5-Oh well, didn't work. Be back in 12 months and another 6 to get all the way back...and now he's in arbitration.

That's a wildly negative take, but...it's somehow my take at the moment.

Already tried the rest rehab route this year and the pain popped back up, maybe even got worse.

Obviously not my arm or career, but I’d probably go for surgery now that way he should be ready to come back for a month or two next year then be full on for 2026.

Timing sucks, he was pitching great and with a couple years of 135 IP in the minors should have been able to stick in the rotation all year if not for the injury, but such is baseball such is life I guess.

So is this "brace procedure," that a couple of guys have had, basically making a tendon that is totally normal and acceptable for most human beings a "super-tendon"? Making it bigger and stronger so that it can throw baseballs really hard?

Dang.

Get well kid. See you for the stretch run next year. What a couple of wild cards Woodruff and Gasser are going to be for next year's squad...

Sounds like a World Series to me...

Honestly as much of a bummer as this is, I am relieved he opted for the surgery. If he's having the surgery on 6/24 then there's a chance he can help the MLB team come next September. I feel like rehab would have just delayed the inevitable and I think timing wise it's better for the surgery to be in June then say September/October.

Not to be cold hearted about this but why couldn't this have happened before he started he hit the majors? Now he gets a year of major league service time in while rehabbing.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

DL Hall as "the Hader," since...we always need to make a good lefty "the Hader," Ashby back. Do we really lose anyone? We just have a whole bunch of players coming back or up. Uribe, Megill, Williams...Wade Miley? I wouldn't hate that if he wants to pitch. Payamps, Peguero...Hudson, damn we are going to have a lot of pitching.

Really just need an ace. There's this FA from Baltimore that Spotrac says is going to get 7/166....that could be fun!

Ok, the last part of ~95.6% sarcasm, and maybe 4.4%

Well it feels like every time these particular issues pop up, it's a TJ, but sometimes it really just requires rest.

And then the kid came up, he was dealing and it seemed like the right move.

Obviously, in retrospect, you would prefer he got it done when they found the bone spurs, but I can see why he wanted to pitch through it. He clearly felt good enough and he was helpful. But, it does make it hurt a little more. Perhaps he becomes an extension candidate(obviously not this but next off-season IF he comes back and shows he's had a successful rehab).

I meant it as in a pity his elbow didn't start to flare up again before he got the call up. They made the right call to bring him up and I understand why they took the course they took with his elbow. It was just a bad stroke of luck it happened shortly after he got to the majors instead of just before. Bad luck for the Brewers that is. Rather fortunate for Gasser all things considered.
