HighHeat dropping in with any updates?

Words have been said Brewers checked in on players and are currently looking at players.  Brewers could trade for players who said words.  Possible prospects traded for players who said words and Brewers will trade words of prospects for players.

Crazy, that's exactly what I've been hearing too.

If they want a bat, why not Tyler Black?

He's a similar player to Yelich, long term, and can play some 1B, LF, DH and possibly 3B or CF in a blowout game.

How is Tyler Black a similar player to Yelich?

The Brewers haven’t made a huge blockbuster deal involving multiple top prospects since the Yelich trade so I’m not expecting anything too overwhelming. Those types of trades are rare. Arnold will probably go out and get a Santana/Canha type bat and maybe another low-level starting pitcher. Don’t see him going after a bullpen arm this year.

yep - A bat like Miguel Andujar  and a SP like Cal Quantrill

Arnold on trading WIlly.

Quote

“We get a lot of calls on Willy,” said Arnold, referring to shortstop and free agent-to-be Willy Adames. But Arnold reiterated what he has been saying since last winter, that “it’s highly unlikely” the Brewers trade him.

“He’s the heartbeat of this team,” Arnold said. “He plays every day. His energy is something we could never replace. But again, you can never say never.”

Translation: come bowl us over with an offer.

Here's a few trades:

Brewers: Lowe (12.8 BTV)

Rays: Mitchell (10.8 BTV) and Blalock (1.9 BTV)

Rays get a controllable and cheap often injured but talented player. Brewers get a less controllable and often injured, more expensive player that fits a need now and in 2025. Arnold has mentioned the team wants a left handed bat and Lowe fits that need.

Brewers: Kikuci (5.2 BTV)

Jays: Wichrowski (4.2 BTV) and  O'Rae (Probably around 1.0 BTV)

Kikuci would strengthen the rotation for the stretch run. The team likely would prefer to add a lefty to their right handed dominant staff. The Jays get a promising young starter and a speedy Canadian prospect.

Brewers: Fedde (21.4 BTV)

Sox: Black (13.3 BTV) and Wiemer (7 BTV)

The Sox needs an influx of talent at many positions. Black doesn't really have a defined defense position and can learn where that is on the job. Wiemer has been hot lately and provides a boom/bust player with plus defense. Fedde provides a playoff caliber starter that can be plugged into the rotation in 2025 as well.

I also think they will trade either Milner or Payamps but I could not think of any good destinations or values there.

SEA has only two LHP on their entire roster, one of whom has walked 12 in 18 innings.  Good landing spot for Milner for a low-level prospect.

Yankees only have two LHP, one has an ERA over 5.00 and the other has struck out 6 in 17 IP.  Another spot for Milner.  That's just looking at the AL.

I’m not sure why Mitchell is the one everyone is pushing.

Outside of Chourio, I’d trade any of our young outfielders before Mitchell. He is very fundamental, and has the shortest and best swing of the bunch.

He's fast, a good hitter with some power, and can play LF with only an average arm.

The only place I see the Brewers adding significant WAR is SP at this point. It doesn't make sense to add a decent player at any positional spot as we're pretty solid everywhere. I also can't see us going for high end relief. We could add a low-end SP or high-end SP...but that's the spot. I could also see us adding some version of a bench player that makes the roster function better and/or a cheap reliever. I'm not really sure what would make the bench function better, but those are the only things I see us doing. I'll add, I would be surprised if we DIDN'T add another SP. Depth is still an issue, also it would be really nice to feel like we had an even moderately formidable postseason rotation...and going Peralta, Civale, Rea, Myers just ain't it

Turang has hit 149/208/161 over his last 73 PA.

Ortiz is at 143/213/167 over 47 PA since coming off the IL.

Monasterio is at 195/283/268 for the season.

I’d be looking for an infielder.

The Brewers could use more talent all over their roster: you can never have enough pitching, they could use a pure hitter anywhere in the lineup and infield depth could be better.

That being said, it’s a seller’s market and the Brewers don’t really trade from their major league roster or from their collection of blue chippers at the deadline.  As such. I would expect a couple of unheralded moves like the Mears trade if anything (Justin Turner to DH and play a little 1B/3B).

Quite possibly their reinforcements will be some combo of Joe Ross, DL Hall and JB Bakauskas. With Yelich in September

Luis Rengifo would be a good 2B option (especially vs LHP) while also being able to spell Ortiz and rest/DH Adames a couple times.

I’ve wondered why Frelick hasn’t been used more at 3B to rest the infielders while simultaneously alleviating the bit of an OF logjam there was before the Yelich injury

Because the novelty of having him actually play 3B in a regular season game has worn off.  They must see that it is a bad idea.

Let's go get Skubal.

As far as I'm concerned, I would give up A LOT.

Misiorowski, Wilken, Black, and a Carolina SP.

I would NOT do a trade that featured top players at EVERY minor league level, as I think their older guys don't necessarily have a pathway, whereas it's easy to imagine the Brewers needing Lara, or Pratt, or Bitoni in future seasons.
