Aaron for us today will be strong, brave, and darin'!!!

Birdsong will feel shallow and mellow as he sings a swan-song!

He will give up more than one ding-dong!

MILWAUKEE — Ostensibly, the Giants are still in a playoff race.

But their actions Wednesday suggested otherwise.

On the field, they couldn’t recover from five runs leveled against Kyle Harrison and fell back to .500 in a 5-3 loss to the Brewers.

The Athletic reported the team had placed a trio of veterans — relievers Taylor Rogers and Tyler Matzek and second baseman Thairo Estrada — on irrevocable waivers, making them available to any team willing to pay the remainder of their salaries.

“It’s frustrating,” Harrison said of the Giants’ season-long struggle to cement themselves among the National League’s true contenders. “I wouldn’t say we’re looking at other teams, but yeah, we want to come out with a win, especially going to the fifth with no runs (allowed). I’ve just got to be better. That sucked. On to the next one.”

While it’s not uncommon for players to end up on waivers this time of year, it’s also not a ringing endorsement from a team’s front office when they put their Opening Day second baseman and a fixture of their bullpen up for grabs at the going rate of salary relief.

To the Giants SP today:

"Don't cry now, don't you cry

Don't you cry anymore, la, la, la, la

Sleep in the stars, don't you cry

Dry your eyes on the wind, la, la, la, la"

After losing to the Brewers the Giants put Taylor Rogers, Tyler Matzek and Thairo Estrada on waivers, expect some more if they lose today.

Taylor Rogers is about the only one I might be interested in since we always seem to have pitching shortages. BUT>>>

In 2024, Rogers will earn a base salary of $12,000,000, while carrying a total salary of $12,000,000. Seems like a whole lot of money for him.

The "Bringing a fruit platter to a party as an adult takes on a whole new meaning" ad has to be one of the dumbest commercials. When does a child ever bring a fruit platter to a party?

With the huge foul territory in Oakland, and the last couple of home games, it seems as if Ortiz has had to run a long way for some foul popups lately.

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

They just put him on waivers. So, he can still play until someone claims him.

That’s crazy.   I can’t believe you can still play

Why? The player is still on the roster, the team is just saying "we're ok if someone takes him off our hands - please, have him." Until that process has completed he is still property of that team.

I miss the rare but always unique if it happened blockbuster trades after the first trade deadline in August.

IIRC we were very close one year to dealing Ryan Braun to the Dodgers in an August waiver trade.

Puig and a prospect for Braun and cash was the supposed deal.  The Brewers and Dodgers were not able to agree on the prospect coming over in time.
