I was disgusted yesterday and vowed to never attend another Wild Card game but already bought tickets for tomorrow. Have to win today though in order to attend tomorrow, let's go Montas.

The booing was so minor. Really, I would describe it as a smattering.

To be fair, Murphy claimed it helped in the Dbacks game when they were down 8-0, so who knows?

Well, we won this exact pitching matchup less than 5 days ago. And this team hasn't quit all year. So, there's reason for optimism.

All you have to do is get one tonight, and then all of a sudden the vibes are good again, and the pressure is right back on the Mets. How often do 2 game winning streaks happen at home in MLB? ALL THE TIME, so let's get it done!

And in the future get rid of the totally inorganic tag lines.      If something just pops up in a grass roots kind of way and the team and fans latch onto something that encapsulates a season then go for it

Let’s face it

undaunted sucks.     Get rid of the saying  tonight in some sort of faux sacrifice and we go on to win the World Series

The term "Undaunted" becoming a marketing tool has nothing to do with the game yesterday.  They have been using that term privately all year and it has served them fine.

Also, I was trying to find the original post that talked about the booing.  I was at the game yesterday.  I have heard all-out boos and what happened after the Payamps /  Ashby meltdown wasn't an all out boo, but the sound of the "You have to be kidding me" type of boo.  I can't really explain it.

Now, if there was discussion of boos of Winker -- yes, those were boos.

How about this -- even if the Brewers get down, let's not sit on our hands.  At the bottom of the second, the fans were pulling the typical Milwaukee / Wisconsin fan pout.  It is very easy to get into it when they are doing well.  I think of my trip to Arizona this year -- the crowd was getting fired up whenever there was two strikes.  Yes... even after they were down 8 runs in the second inning.

Then again, IMHO, the acoustics at Chase field are much better than Am Fam.

Perhaps sausage #2 won't take a header this time around.  Now THAT was funny.

I was there. There was very little booing from the crowd. I was impressed actually. The fans were pretty supportive and were still cheering those last 5 innings where nothing happened. No one boo'd Jackson after he miffed that liner after robbing the HR. The loudest boos were for Winker.

It did get realllly quiet in there during that 4th inning. You could tell everyone was "oh boy here we go again" as soon as the Mets got on base.

I'm feeling like trying something crazy tonight.

1. Perkins - CF
2. Chourio - LF
3. Contreras - DH
4. Adames - SS
5. Hoskins - 1B
6. Ortiz - 3B
7. Frelick - RF
8. Haase - C
9. Turang - 2B

Brewers have given up 5, 6, and 8 runs in the 3 games Contreras as caught at catcher which since the Brewers made the playoffs in 2018 are the most, second most, and tied for the 3rd most runs we have given up in a game. Not saying it's Contreras fault, but I've been skeptical of his pitch calling this season.

Yeah really wouldn't mind seeing this. I also feel like Haase is the kind of bat that could also have a big moment, love his pitch calling.

Then again I'm not so sure it matters as much with Montas (in his Brewers pitch arsenal) Vs a Civale

I don't know whether or not it's specific to Milw/WI sports fans, but the 'pout' thing definitely rears its' ugly head sometimes. I've noticed how some other home crowds try to lift up a team when they're down, almost like at a college hoops game. Seems more sporadic here. It would be nice to conjure up an "us vs them" atmosphere tonight.

OTOH, If anyone directed boos at Payamps after not breaking to 1B right away, I got no problem wid it.

Mets lineup is out. Only one lefty and then Lindor who is a switch hitter.

Montas against LHH: .374 wOBA .

Montas against RHH: .272 wOBA.

Think we get a nice performance from Montas tonight.

Haase, the 2024 Erik Kratz? Not bad, and you may have a point re Contreras & the pitch calling. But I'd be floored if Sanchez wasn't the DH tonite. And I wouldn't be surprised if Mitchell is in RF over Frelick. Call that one a tossup.

The fans are definitely impatient to say the least. I don't fault the fans, but it's not going to help snap us out of our postseason slump.

I think Murphy will leave Turang in the leadoff spot today..

Turang - 2B

Chourio - LF

Contreras - C

Mitchell - RF

Adames - SS

Hoskins - 1B

Sanchez - DH

Ortiz - 3B

Perkins - CF

This lineup is very similar to what was used against Manaea when he started here on 09/27

I think the only way Mitchell plays over Frelick is if Frelick can't go 2 days in a row. Frelick started against LHP with Mitchell on the bench during the stretch run.

I imagine this is what will likely happen. I was mostly just saying what I wanted even though I know it's not realistic.

I thought both Payamps and Ashby looked like a deer in the headlights last night. Combined giving up 5 runs in less than one inning.  .2 to be exact.  I guess the moment was to big for them.  It cost us dearly. I hope the Brewers have the resilience to come back today. Because I do think we are better than the Mets.

I'm not super concerned about the Brewers missing resilience. Murph will get the best out of our guys today. Winning is obviously a different story, hopefully we can pull it out.

I hope Turang hits leadoff. He's in good form and 3/3 career against Manaea. I suspect we're more likely to load up RH bats 2-6 and have mitchell/frelick hit 7. I'm hoping for Turang, Chourio, Contreras, Hoskins, Adames, Sanchez, Frelick/Mitchell, Ortiz, Perkins. Often against lefties, Perkins hits 2nd. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen today even if I'm generally good with him starting today. over one of the lefties. Does anyone know if Woodruff is available to pinch hit?

I have two tickets in 411 if anyone wants them. You may get stuck with me sitting next to you, so while they won't cost you any money, you will pay somehow.

All I’ve got left is a fool’s hope. The hope that grade school me had when all the Brewers did was lose year after year and all I wanted was to watch a winner. Time to win some games in October. It might just take one to start the dominos falling. Might as well be tonight.

Probably not, but maybe

Twitter's algorithm fed me Shane Victorino's grand slam to get me in the "mood" for today. That was 16 years ago today apparently.

Astros on the verge of losing.

Still no series has gone to third game in now the third year of this format. We will see if a miracle Houston comeback or a Baltimore awakening changes that.

If not, the Brewers will have to lose their seventh game in a row to make it nine straight elimination game losses for the team that loses Game 1.

That's my way of being optimistic. Two unlikely things will need to happen for us to lose tonight!!!

In all seriousness, let's get this done and play one more game. Go Brewers!

I think that's an indictment on how terrible this format is. Why not just save time and make it a 1-game playoff? Then have the DS go 7 instead of 5.

Mets won game 2 against San Diego back in 2022. That's the only time a team has lost game 1 and won another game in the series. Teams going down 1-0 are 0-9 in series with a 1-9 record following game 1.

3 Game Wild Card Series actually started in 2020 during the COVID season. Slightly different format with no team getting a bye, but:

A's lost first game, but won final 2 at home to beat the White Sox.

Padres lost first game, but won final 2 at home to beat the Cards.

I don't think it's anywhere near as insurmountable as the last few years have made it seem.

Yes, & despite Mitchells' recent performance I'm more comfy with Frelick vs a LHP. I too was thinking of the health factor.

It isn't. I don't know if we'll get it done or not, but you win one game & everything changes. Hell, I remember saying that to people after being down 0-2 to the Angels in '82. And yes, that was a much better Brewer team, but relatively speaking that Angel team was a lot better than this Mets group, too.

2020 had no fans and 16 playoff teams so don't think that's comparable to the current situation.
