Just glad (for now) he didn't end up with the Cubs or Cardinals...

This contract won't end well, we all know that, but I am happy he isn't spending the next 2-3 years tormenting us in the Central.

It was reported as over 100 million but don’t know exact amount or years……and I’m sure we never will.

Isn't 5 years and 100 million the running joke around here?

An offer of over 100M was reported by Hogg or Mcalvey forget which one…..years were never mentioned if I recall correctly.

Extremely happy for Willy. A consummate team guy - loved by all within the organization. The writing was on the wall throughout last season and he gave us his best offensive output of his time as a Brewer. I have zero complaints in the end and ultimately am just excited for Willy and his family.

I look at this from a few different angles with the overarching theme I absolutely love this for the player and the person:

(1) The Brewers can't afford contracts like this

(2) I personally don't want to pay a very possibly declining SS (defensively) $27 Milly/year

(3) I worry about a career year in a contract year

(4) Given the Brewers can't sign players to these types of deals, I love that the Brewers traded for a player who played many years for the org and who then got this deal. This means the Brewers had a stud on their hands and that means very good opportunities to get into the post-season. More lotto tickets means possibly winning the post-season lotto one day. It also gives potential future players traded for a carrot at the end of the stick, so to speak.

(5) Because of the type of fan I am, my interest now transitions to contemplating the various ways this impacts future roster construction(s) - into next season and beyond.

(6) Jesus Made plays full-season affiliated ball in less than 6 months

As expected but still very sad that baseball continues to be the one major sport where small market teams lose their stars.

The Brewers will be better than San Francisco next year.

Doesn't change his post in any way.

The Brewers are not victims for choosing to not spend $180 million on Adames. Or being unable to spend that money on a SS that will already be 30 years old next season.

We should not want to sign this star to that contract.

The comment was made that Baseball is the only major sport in which small-market teams are EXPECTED to lose their stars to large-market teams.

Not about about being "victims," because they couldn't sign Willy Adames to this exact deal, it was a larger and pretty simple point.

The Packers aren't expected to just...let any player they draft who they hit on leaves because they can't possibly match the Cowboys, Giants, Rams, etc...

The Bucks, again, they didn't just reconcile themselves to the fact that Giannis was gone when he became a star because they just couldn't consider spending the money to keep them.

So no part of this statement;

...is wrong. Hader, Burnes, Williams.

You can rationalize why each individual deal wasn't a great deal...and that's not the point.
