I'm happy it's CRod and surprised it took this long. I'd like to see him get an extended look and either sink or float.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Any idea why it isn't Misiorowski?

Rodriguez is already on the 40-man roster, Mis isn't.

Adding Mis means DFA-ing someone when the other injured pitchers (Woody, Civale, Quintana, Ashby, Hall, Cortes) come off the IL.

Many thanks for the explanation!

Think rehabbing veterans will have first dibs on rotation spots until the trade deadline.

Ideally guys like Civale, Quintana, and Cortes (I think Ashby/Hall will be in relief roles once ready) will get healthy and show enough between now and then that they can be dealt for some kind of whatever at the deadline.

After that Peralta, Woodruff (don't think he'll be dealt either way) and some combo of Misio, Henderson, Patrick, Priester, and Rodriguez becomes the rotation for the last couple months.

Might only be one start...

Carlos Rodriguez will be called up by the Brewers to make a start this weekend in Pittsburgh, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Curt Hogg.

Still no Jacob Misiorowski. Rodriguez could be up just to push everyone back a day or perhaps he’ll pitch in place of Quinn Priester, who gave up three runs behind an opener last night and would be due to pitch again Saturday. It’ll probably be just a brief stint in the majors for Rodriguez, as the Brewers have some rehabbing pitchers making their way back.

Let Miz sustain current level of performance as a starter in AAA while shaking out their rostered starting pitching.

Miz only threw 3 innings tonight. I wonder why his outing was so short. I pray he isn’t injured. Maybe he’s being groomed for long relief in Milwaukee.

He's probably on an inning limit for the season. If the plan is to have him in the majors to finish the season maybe they just wanted to limit keep his early season innings. It would make sense to limit his innings now if they're sellers at the trade deadline.

That's what the Brewers are doing, certainly....doesn't mean that I agree with that plan when the guy you're holding off the 40 man is by far and away the most talented arm you have, and he's about as MLB ready as a guy throwing triple digits can be.

My position is use those bullets at the MLB level, and rehabbing veteran arms who might get you a lottery ticket at the trade deadline if they come back and pitch ok for a few weeks shouldn't be a roadblock to Mis getting on the 40 man roster ASAP.

Exactly. Pitchers that throw that hard eventually have arm surgery. How many more innings pitched do we want to invest defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders?

Misio walked 12 guys in his first 18.2 IP and really only has six appearances / 33.2 IP / one calendar month of dominating performance under his belt at this point.

I've got no problem letting him stack a few more good outings to show whatever changes he has made are sustainable before throwing him to the wolves in MLB.

I don't see the point - are another 3-4 starts in AAA really enough to say those changes are that much more sustainable and then prove he's "more ready" for MLB than he is right now?  What happens if he has 1 stinker outing mixed in there, in your opinion?  Keep Mis in the minors until September callups or next season and then run the risk of seeing his elbow explode in mid-August in Nashville, then we spend the next 16 months in threads talking about who's going to have to be removed off the 40 man roster in late 2026 to ensure a still-recovering Mis doesn't get picked in the Rule 5 draft next fall?

I get that we're both arguing hypotheticals - IMO when a pitcher naturally carries overpowering stuff, regardless of the level he's pitching at, if he can demonstrate even a marginally consistent ability to command his arsenal without looking like Ricky Vaughn at the start of Major League you get him on the MLB roster in today's game.

I would much rather see his elbow explode in Nashville in mid-august than it do so in Milwaukee. Wasting a full year of service time rehabbing is never ideal but even worse in a year were we're struggling to be .500.

The argument that they don't have room on the 40 man doesn't make sense.  The only guy on the 60 man DL they need to open up a spot for is Hall, and he figures to replace Alexander.   So unless they insist on hanging on to Payamps, they should be able to make room for Misiorowski.  Count me in the group that thinks a guy with the dominant stuff shouldn't be wasting his arm talent getting minor league hitters out.  Especially when the manager panics when any of Patrick, Priester, or Myers has to face any major league hitter with solid career numbers the third time in a game.  None of those guys is going to take a step forward as a starter unless they are given the chance to succeed or fail in that situation.

Misio threw 97 IP last year. I'd imagine they don't want him throwing much more than 130-140 IP this year (he's already at 52).

I'd guess when he does get the call that they'll be similarly cautious with how many innings he throws and batters he faces just like they do with the other young arms.

Is it better to waste a year of service time in a season where the odds of making a post season run is diminishing and his innings will be limited? I don't want to waste any of his service time learning on the job in an innings limited role.

When is Hall due for reinstatement? Because, if we're talking who has looked like an MLB caliber reliever during his rehab stints it certainly isn't LHP Aaron Ashby.
