This team reminds me of the Cardinals teams when they were winning with players like Skip Schumacher.  Those teams were annoying and had no business being as good as they were.  Maybe the Brewers can do a 2011 Cardinals season.

Yeah I was thinking Cards or the Giants circa 2014 - 2018

This team won the World Series, and only two guys had an OPS over 800. Hunter Pence would fit in really well on the Brewers this year.

This team is something else, just murders you with "who's that?" and "what's his name?"

Who's on first, what's on second.

I'll show myself out...

This was the end to a very difficult road trip.  I was expecting them to go 2-4 at best and probably 1-5 on this road trip through LA and Seattle.  To go 5-1 is just crazy.

Reactivated on July 14. Paternity list is max 3 days

I suspect that the delivery of the Ashby baby was planned. Otherwise extremely lucky.

He pitched twice in the Dodgers series, then took off. The team had Thursday off and his paternity leave was Friday-Sunday and then came the All Star break. He was back in LA the next Friday after  an 8 day leave.

Priester has been a major find.    We are really set in the rotation unless someone gets injured

i would assume they are going to skip some starts by miz in these upcoming months and myers can take care of that

He just pitched Wonder if Ashby will be trade bate?

Yeah my question was before he pitched.  He's been on the roster for weeks and hadn't even warmed up at any point.  Then in the 7th today with an 8 run lead Ashby was warming up.

I think it'd take a couple of injuries with Cortes coming back, Henderson and Patrick in AAA.  Any of Myers, Hall or Ashby could step in.  Its just crazy the depth right now.

We have to trade someone if were going to do anything by the deadline, Ashby is as good as any.  He's been on the DL 1/2 his time with the brewers it seems.

I felt pretty confident he wasn’t getting a pitch in the zone on strike 3. Guess he didn’t see it that way and swung anyway

I watched most of the game on DVR delay so wasn’t around to comment at the time.

Anyone who watches the Brewers every day can see that Yelich has been scuffling (“not seeing the ball welll”) for a couple,of weeks. He has had several K’s where he looks terrible and  several of those weak grounders to the right side. Most of his hits have been of the scratch variety.

When he bunted with runners on first and third and 2 out it was a sure sign to me that he is not confident or comfortable at the plate.. A bunt there is not as inexcusable as what Siegler did last night. But a confident hitter in the middle,of the order would be looking for more than getting a run in with a bunt.

Are you forgetting that Cortes is about to return? It'd be super controversial, but might they put Miz back down to AAA when Cortes returns? Bring him back up at some point in that no layoff stretch and doubleheader.

It also seems like the brewers have done pretty well against good starters too.   I wonder if the make contact, move runners offensive approach gets to some of these guys who are used to striking out a bunch of launch angle kings

I’d rather he pitch innings in the big leagues than waste innings in the minors at this point

If they are worried about innings than don’t waste them at Nashville

My take on Cortes is I don’t trust him.   If you are going to throw him in over guys who are actually producing he better hit the ground running like woodruff.    He seems like a pointless starter for us unless Quintana falls apart

hes depth in my opinion.   Not automatically given a spot in the rotation

I think you send Miz down to skip a start. Pitch, go down the next day, rest, come back up 10 days later and pitch. He only misses one start, and you aren’t an arm short.

That’s what I’m guessing will happen the next couple of months

if this happens does he even travel  to AAA or does he just stay in Milwaukee until he gets called back up

Yeah I told myself before the road trip that I'd be very happing going 3-3 so this was amazing.

C’mon Yeli swing the bat

He's in one of those things he gets into where he chases a LOT of pitches that aren't strikes. You can tell he is really uncomfortable because he tried for the bunt hit w/the runner on 3rd & two outs. I actually have no problem with him doing that if it's there, but it was vs a RHP, plus it wasn't an ultra-critical run at the time--I believe we were up 3 runs & it wasn't late in the game. Doing it there tells me he isn't picking the ball up at all. Fortunately he's still finding a base hit here & there but he needs to stop chasing & figure out how to get in some more favorable counts.

No he isn't

Everyone was wondering why he didn't pitch today. The only other thing I can think of is he may be traded by the deadline on July 31st.

For those calling for Myers earlier, did you want Priester pulled after six?

No, just wanted him to pitch the 8th and 9th.  When those posts were made, the broadcast had just shown Ashby warming up in the pen.
