Diggs seems like a godsend considering the current state of our CB's. If they think he is not washed up they can restructure that 15.5 million he is due next year, considering what FA CB's got last year he could be a pretty good value if he wants to stay with his buddy Parsons. I have no idea if he is any good anymore but I do know Nixon and Valentine are not. I expect he will be starting in wildcard round, they need to do something different.

Diggs is likely just another typical 2025 NFL player who can be as good as he wants to be.  It's obvious that he and the Cowboys were not getting along, so he very well could have just tanked the season.  But when looking at the statistics, he has been awful in 2025, probably the worst CB in the entire league.  Opposing QBs have a QB rating of 157.1 when throwing at him.  QBs have completed 77.3 percent of their passes against him.  He is allowing 12.3 yards per target.  It's amazing the Cowboys didn't dump him weeks ago with numbers like that.

By comparison-

Nixon - QB rating = 105.1, completion percentage = 64.4, yards per target = 7.5

Valentine - QB rating = 121.1, completion percentage = 59.7, yards per target = 7.6

Hobbs (KO'ed) - QB rating = 111.1, completion percentage = 65.5. yards per target = 7.6

Packer CBs certainly have been nothing to write home out, absolutely no argument from me on that one.  But they have been better than Diggs, who has been woeful beyond belief.  But as I said, if he shows up and is motivated and actually wants to be good.....

Yes, it is definitely a change of scenery hope that we can get anything out of him. Still, he has played at a much higher level in the past than any of our guys and he is a better hope to give us some good play in the playoffs than anyone brought up from the practice squad or Melton.

It amazes me the Packers are still listing Melton as a cornerback.  So far this season he's seen 83 snaps on offense, 176 on special teams, and a big fat ZERO on defense.  I think I might have as good a chance as Melton at playing cornerback in the next game.

I think Gutekunst is a competent GM (could be better and could be much worse), but ai don’t get the Bo Melton thing at all.

Melton, an undersized free agent WR, who Gutekunst doesn’t think is amongst their 7 best WR (Doubs, Watson, Reed, Wicks, Golden, Heath, Savion Williams) so they move him to CB where he has not played since High school. Makes the 53 man as a corner, but hasn’t played a down there even though the Packers are signing CBs off the street to their 53 man.

Even though the receiving corps is back to full health, they move Melton in front of Williams and release Heath. Neither Williams or Heath has had a drop all year. Melton has 4 receptions on 12 targets on the year.

In other words, Melton is not a ST specialist (or not a very good one anyways), they misjudged his ability as a corner as evidenced by zero playing time there and signing players off the street to go ahead of him on the depth chart. Then misjudged their talent on offense, deciding Melton was not amongst their 7 best this summer, but moving him to 5th WR ahead of a player Gutekunst drafted 87th overall last April?

Melton is probably a locker room guy that everybody loves and they tried to invent a way to lie to themselves to keep him on the team. They know he can't play WR and now they know he can't play CB so the jig is probably up this off-season.

Safe to assume Packers/Bears would be a virtual lock for Sunday night?

If no current matchups change, I'd say buff/NE is top, GB/chi is a close second, knocked down due to the Packers injuries, and philly/Rams as 3rd with a small gap.  Top 2 have those divisional ties that make the games just a little more extra.

Not sure I agree. GB is a much larger national viewership audience than Buffalo. GB/CHI has to be the network's #1. Not sure NE carries the same weight without Brady, but I think that would be the #2. Going from recent memory, they tend to put the AFC on Saturday anyway.

I am assuming the Packers are definitely playing Sunday, either at 330 or the night game depending on whether or not it's the Eagles or Bears. They may even play the Bears at 330. I think I remember reading that is their ratings money spot.

What about MNF? There is a MNF game in the wildcard round.

I'm not sure what the pecking order is for which station gets to choose their games.  I'm fairly certain they get some say.

Yeah but there's no way that'll be the Packers against either team. That and Saturday afternoon will be the two stinker matchups.

SF @ Car/TB

Hou @ Pitt/Bal

Hard to market Carolina/Tampa or Houston to a nationwide audience their games would likely be the non-premium time slots.

So far the MNF Wild Card Game has always been a 4 vs 5 game since that allows the NFL to set the schedule for the Divisional Round on Sunday, as the result of the 4 vs 5 is the only one that wouldn't change the home teams in the next round.

That looks like a fun slate. Health is paramount, as it always is, and of course there will be one or two of this year's playoff teams that take a nosedive, and a couple bad teams that surge. But that home slate especially looks really exciting, particularly if Willis ends up in Miami.

You can't put too much stock in a schedule for the following season. Our third place schedule netted us Denver and Carolina this year. But it's still fun to see.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not making any record predictions here or anything. I just think that should be a fun set of opponents. Certainly several measuring-stick matchups to be found in there, I would expect.

TX times two plus Miami up in GB.  Hopefully they are both late in the season. 😉

And Tampa in December....

Some speculation that if the Packers are one and done, they may look to move on from MLF and pursue Harbaugh.

It is possible Policy would shake things up but that piece this week about Packers being cheapskates on coaches made me think MLF really coaching these playoffs for leverage on his contract extension, not for his job. The Packers like OC type head coaches too.

It makes no sense to me why the Packers would choose to be cheapskates with their coaching hires. They're really successful and profitable and it's not like an owner is taking a cut every season to line his own pockets for impulse buys. Maybe it's a philosophy choice in that they don't view coaches all that differently so choose not to overpay.

I'm pretty sure that Rich Bisaccia is the highest paid ST coordinator in the league though. For all the good that's done them.

They brought up a couple of points like MLF being forced to keep Pettine and the lousy special teams guys they had before Bisaccia. It doesn't make sense to me why they would be cheap there either, they are rolling in cash. Here is the article for anyone who didn't see it:
