If I didn't live amongst Cub fans for roughly half of my life, I'd struggle to understand what sort of logic they apply in assuming their team is just way better than the Brewers, and at some point the Brewers "luck" would run out and the Cubs will come out ahead of Milwaukee in the standings.  There's this belief on their end that the Brewers' success "isn't sustainable" - but they fail to see how much of the current state of the Brewer organization is incredibly sustainable in terms of draft and develop, increased quality minor league depth, an eye for pitching from all kinds of spots, and a MLB roster that is currently loaded with young players who may not be able to do 1 thing at an elite level, but can do many things well.

Haven't watched this yet but having listened to national MLB podcasts over the last month or two there's definitely the sentiment out there that the Brewers really are getting by on luck, smoke, and mirrors. Whether it's the lack of stars (a legitimate talking point this weekend on one of the pods), BABIP, unearned runs, or [take your pick] the overwhelming consensus has been that what the Brewers did all season wouldn't matter much when going up against more talented teams in the playoffs.

TBF, I didn't get that vibe from this quick listen.  These guys seems resolved in the fact of how much well run the brewers are and that their team is better.

Your overall point though, I 100% get that from the Cubs fans I'm friends with. I don't try to argue or make it a thing, you'd think after several years in a row they'd realize it but here we are.   That said, its not like the Cubs weren't very good this year. They didn't hand us that division with a chokejob or anything.  They had the fourth or fifth best record in all of baseball I think

I didn't make it through the whole thing, but the one line that jumped out at me was the "have and have not" line where he inferred that the owner/GM decided to keep the money instead of spend it at the deadline.

After being 2x drubbed by the Brewers with $90M less in payroll.  More money to spend is nice, but you still need to find the right players.

Its wild how delusional the Cubs fans are. Yeah, they are a good team, not great, but good. Their first mistake was going out and letting prospects go for Tucker when they needed much more than one player to make a WS run. They dont have respect because they cant handle losing to a small market team that is just 90 miles away. I still hear that Brewers are their little brother and 97 wins was luck. Thats just wild

You are right, the Cubs were very good, but not great. We all know what its like to play for Counsell. Yeah, he was manager to get us in the playoffs so many times, but he looks miserable when hes losing and too analytical. I don't know if he will ever get over the hump until he learns from his mistakes. The Cubs remind me exactly of the Brewers from 2019-2023, waiting for 3 run HR.

Speaking facts. There is no question the Brewers are better, and I dont even think they are putting up their best game yet.

I never talk trash, but I'm certainly not talking trash or basking in the schadenfruede until the Brewers actually win the series.

Wasnt referencing the video per say, as much as the sentiment by cub fans in general - particularly on their ns baseball board.

LOL, they said Counsell is vastly overrated and with a 100 million larger payroll.  I was saying that when Craig was our manager.

That's one of the things I heard repeated multiple times and never understood why. How they all could just ignore the Brewers performed against all those more talented teams in entire season is beyond me.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Who needs validation from a delusional fanbase hell bent on sticking their head in the sand rather than face reality.  The smoke and mirrors garbage is nothing more than projection.  Their hot start was the smoke and mirrors act and that is showing up now.

Imanaga hasn't been the same pitcher in 2025 that he was in 2024.

Horton is going to be their golden boy the next few seasons.

Yeah, I mean it feels good now but any team winning 3 games in a row isn't exactly unheard of. I'd think most of us feel pretty confident right now but it's not over 'til it's over.

Just a handful of years ago the Bucks were down 0-2 vs. the Suns in the championship series. They won the next 4.

Yep I think we all remember 2011 NLDS and NLCS I believe we won early games in those series too. It's not over by a long shot. Going to be a fight today.

I'm surprised by how little mention I've seen of their complete abuse of Horton this season.

IP:

2022 (college):  53.2

2023:  88.1

2024:  34.1

2025:  147

I will be shocked if that doesn't come back to bite them.

Well, he's not on the NLDS roster because of injury...already biting them.

They put him on the Justin Steele workload plan

Yeah, I meant his elbow more than the rib.

That's way too many innings this year.
