Has there been another hitter who didn't really figure it out until he was 29/30?  I can name a few who figured it out at 27, but I'm struggling to think of anyone who became a very good hitter after that.

Bautista comes to mind.

Not saying Bauers is Joey Bats, but he's a really nice player for this team.

Bauers caught the Jetstream on that one.

Never thought about wind regression before, but he was due after some weird stuff the last few games.

Just had Bauers' stat page up and my recency bias is really struggling with how he's still a negative WAR player for his career.

80 mph exit velocity doesn't make a ball go 420 feet.

I don’t know what you are saying.

Justin Turner is probably the best example. Nelson Cruz.

Fun game so far, I caught myself wondering if Imanaga might be tipping pitches and that was before Bauers hit that bomb.

Watching Joey at bat isn’t fun….. but at SS……it’s beautiful

He's the classic all glove/no bat #9 hitter. I value his defense so much that I'm fine with that

As crazy as this may sound, at age 29 Justin Turner was exactly replacement level for his career.

Not saying Bauers will follow the same trajectory, just that there is precedent for late bloomers.

Been fun. Win is still blowing out. Definitely don't want to lose focus here because things turn quick at Wrigley.

So far, Sproat's sinker has been excellent. You'll take the ground ball single up the middle on this kind of night.

If you are looking at baseball-reference, their WAR really hates first base.

YES SIR!!!

Both Brewers HRs tonight have been lefty on lefty. There were several comments questioning or at least wondering why Bauers would be starting in LF tonight against Imanaga. So far, it appears to be a genius decision.

And, as I recall, this is not our first time to rough up Imanaga at Wrigley.

As was my pick Jose Bautista.

Exactly 0.0 WAR, OPS in the 720 range, then 29-rest of his career, 285 HRs, .879 OPS.
