4.2 IP | 4 H | 3 ER | 3 BB | 5 K | 1 HBP

With the Brewers going 7 W - 5 L in Brandon's twelve starts so far, that line should give them something like a 58.3% chance at victory tonight.

Though that is a touch below their .611 W% on the road so far this year, and their .652 W% versus LH starters, not to mention their current 1.000 W% against the Reds.

On second thought, looks like they are due for regression all across the board so better call it a coin flip.

Can’t wait for 3 spectacular Sproat innings tonight followed by a full on meltdown in the 4th or 5th.

He is kind of like a penny stock. The ticker gets pumped and everyone jumps on for the climb up. You know you should take the profits and run but you get greedy and before you can blink twice the other shoe drops and you are down 30% on the trade.

This!  Maybe he can be an opener type for somebody.  Give us 3 innings and then out

I know this isn't the first time this has been talked about but I would be curious how he would do if he slid into the Drohan/Patrick role with them. I feel like his stuff would pair well as a follow to Gasser.

He really is Diet Freddy lol. I think this is his last chance to show he can stick in the rotation before taking a trip to Nashville to work on things. Pat Murphy has not really minced words about him.

Isn’t Murphy a big fanboy of his saying “his manager loves what he’s been doing for us?”

Uribe and Megill are really rounding into form. Velo and stuff are now extremely close to where they were at last year. If you look at their savant profiles, they have been increasingly more dominant than their surface level stats would suggest right now.

I was on the side of wanting Aroldis Chapman to plug into the 9th recently, but now barring injury I think we can get by with more of a Shelby Miller type addition in the pen.

During a long stretch of games without off days, they can’t afford the luxury of too many 3 inning starts. And with all of the injuries the pipeline for the Nashville shuttle is pretty dry. And I don’t think they want to go to a 5 man, 5 day rotation just yet.

I don’t see that they have much choice but to send Sproat out there and hope he can go at least 5 innings while keeping the team in the game.

It would help if the offense could produce something closer to its 5 run per game average. In the last 7 games they have scored just 2 in 4 games and just 3 in one other. But in Sproat’s start they mangaed 9 runs and were able to win despite Sproat allowing 4 runs in less than 3 innings.

So, my approach when Sproat starts is to hope for the best and hope that the offense can outscore the opponent. They aren’t likely to win if they get shutout for 9 innings and hope that a free runner and a mistake from the opponent can help them eke out a run or two.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

To add to my previous comment, the Brewers are 7-5 in Sproat’s starts, though his record is just 1-4.

In the 7 games that the Brewers have won with Sproat starting, they have scored 9 runs 4 times and 6 runs twice. They did win one game 2-1 against Toronto when Sproat gave up just 1 run in 6.1 innings but he didn’t get the win.

So, my focus tonight will be on the offense to see if they can score at least 5 runs. If they can’t, they will probably lose.

While looking at these game results I came across one thing in the Brewers record that I think is remarkable  They have scored exactly 2 runs 16 times, but are 7-9 in those games  I don’t have access to league  data, but that has to be a couple of games better than the overall league winning percentage when scoring 2 runs.

Somewhat oddly, the Brewers have scored exactly 3 runs 8 times, and are just 1-7 in those games

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Yeli's ongoing climb up the all-time leaderboard for "4-3 putouts" will have to wait, but we get to see Gary continue to climb the leaderboard for "thrown out at first by 5+ steps on a double play".

I kid.  It really is a great time to be a Brewers fan!.  Just a lot of game-to-game frustrations in a 162-game schedule.

Absolutely love the lineup tonight. My only change would be flipping Bauers and Turang in the order

I have no idea if there is a psychological effect for some guys when they hit in front of the run producers that they try and take more pitches vs being in a run producing spot and free swinging, etc

While Chourio has thrived in the 2 spot - Yeli and Turang have regressed since being flipped (willing to be fact checked on that). An order of Turang, Chourio, Yeli, Contreras, Bauers just feels better to me? Flip Bauers and Yeli if we need to... that would be fine too. Anyone else?

If Murphy is really being honest about a 5 man rotation I wonder if Sproat gets optioned after the game as I would thinkg Koenig's rehab assignment is nearing an end.

Murphy said today that Koenig will be back very soon……it will be interesting to see what they do……..my guess is Yoho goes for him but if Sproat gets bombed tonight who knows.

Has Murphy said that he wants to go to a five man rotation soon?
