Little dig at Yeli by our commentator at the end of the inning.

I’m listening to the radio broadcast … What did Yelich say?

While we can't completely shovel dirt on the Cardinals grave yet this week we can certainly start digging the hole.

it's kind of strange when you're happier that Ortiz is at the plate then when Yelich is.😂☹️☹️

but that is what it has come to...

What are the Phillies gonna say when Lara gets added to the All-star roster after 5 games in the majors?

I wonder if anyone in baseball history has made all 3 of their teams’ outs in a single inning in 3 separate ABs.

Wait a hot second... is Joey Ortiz an everyday 3rd baseman AND an asset again?!

I don't get to see lots of games. But from what I've seen Ortiz is a much better defensive third baseman than Hamilton.

The solution to Ortiz's hitting woes was to move him back to 3B?

Not including tonight:

I Split G GS PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB ROE BAbip tOPS+
  as 2B 12   31 25 5 8 1 0 1 5 0 0 4 6 .320 .419 .480 .899 12 0 1 0 1 0 0 .368 184
  as 3B 143   512 446 56 104 22 6 10 58 11 6 50 108 .233 .313 .377 .690 168 12 5 4 7 0 1 .281 117
  as SS 211   708 646 81 147 26 1 9 66 19 7 48 108 .228 .283 .313 .596 202 14 3 9 2 0 2 .260 88

Swap Joey and Bryce and then we'd really have something!

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

.. and for some reason he remembers how to drive the baseball at the plate when he plays the hot corner.

It doesn't take much to see that.  The only reason Joey is on an MLB roster is his defense.  He is head and shoulders better defensively than Hamilton - 3B and SS.

Just looked it up. It has never happened. Only 27 hitters have ever had three plate appearances in one inning.

Gasser Henderson Sproat Harrison and Miz. Who has a younger rotation than that?

Those five plus Drohan, Patrick, and Crow have started 78 of the Brewers 90 games so far this year, all in their Age 27 or younger season. Here are some of the Brewers results and ranks so far this year for SP in their Age 27 or younger season...

400 IP (3rd) | 130 K+ (1st) | 77 ERA- (2nd) | 80 FIP- (t-3rd) | 10.6 rWAR (1st, CLE is 2nd at 9.4) | 9.5 fWAR (1st, PIT is 2nd at 7.9) | +3.90 WPA (1st, SEA is 2nd at +2.47) | +48.66 RE24 (1st, LAD is 2nd at +31.59)

If we expand it out to Age 28 season to include Ashby as the "old" young guy, plus switch from just SP to whole staff since some of those SP have been in swing roles (plus that loops in guys like Uribe and Hall) here are how the Brewers fare on that leaderboard...

639 IP (2nd) | 124 K+ (1st) | 76 ERA- (2nd) | 82 FIP- (t-1st) | 14.0 rWAR (1st, CLE is 2nd at 10.7) | 12.2 fWAR (1st, CLE is 2nd at 9.5) | +5.85 WPA (2nd, TOR is 1st at +6.24) | +81.99 RE24 (1st, TOR is 2nd at +48.43)

The 3 Plate Appearance Club

Only a tiny handful of players in modern MLB history have ever stepped up to the plate 3 times in a single inning. Only one did it without recording a hit:

  • Ted Williams (May 8, 1948): Playing for the Red Sox against the Tigers, Williams came to the plate 3 times during a massive 14-run 7th inning. He didn't get a hit, but he didn't make 3 outs either—he walked twice and grounded into a fielder's choice.
