Thats really unfortunate to lose your biggest bat. I would think a toe injury would be a fairly quick recovery. Hoping for Luke Adams.

This should only be a 2-3 week injury I would think comparing to past players with the same. Luckily to have depth in this spot, but also hoping Luke Adams gets a call here. Going to see a lot of Lara and Vaughn.

Out of curiosity, did this happen last night?  And how did it happen?

A link to the story would be nice.  There is nothing on Brewers.com.

I'm not sure where you're getting that number. I'm seeing 6-8 weeks on a google search for recovery time for a fractured big toe

This should take care of concerns about Vaughn not getting enough playing time for awhile.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Yes, he hit a foul ball off his toe last night. Probably after I.got disgusted and went to bed.

I guess black makes more sense as a LHB on the 40 already

Yeah I would say Adams has earned a shot I just know they won’t replace a LHB with a RHB knowing how they operate. Still have Vaughn as RHB 1B. Plus like you said Blacks already on the 40 man.

Is there anyone else currently on the 26 who can play 1B in a pinch? Sanchez I think?

Just not sure Black will be the way to go if they prefer a little more versatile and defensive option. They’re surely not sticking Tyler Black in the outfield for a start.

Please not Sanchez. When they tried that he almost sent Harrison to the IL by firing a ball behind him and off his knee, resulting in a bruised and twisted knee.

I don’t think Sanchez would even qualify as an emergency first baseman. Almost anyone else ahead of Gary.

I know he's a popular punching bag around here, but he did play the position when Vaughn was hurt at the beginning of the year. Not particularly well, perhaps, but he is an option ahead of a lot of others. I wonder about Contreras, if for no other reason than his brother plays the position a bit.

Yeah, I turned it off when it got to 3-0 so I must have missed it.   Sucks, but now Lara will be the RF for the forseeable future.

Lara in the OF is a good thing. Wasn't it Bauers last night who dropped a ball that was in his glove and then didn't get to a ball that he should have. We lose some power but Lara has been getting on base and is a plus in the OF

Not that matters much anymore, but was going off of George Springer's same injury of earlier this year and he missed 18 days.

Wait, so what is actually happening here. The reporting has been awful. I saw that he has no return timeline, but then I saw him do an interview where he said it was an old fracture and he wasn't going to miss time. This is like schrodinger's broken toe.

I think this is mostly just a case of modern media be more about how fast you break news. The initial report was that he fractured his big toe and there was no timeline because they were still running tests. Then in those tests they found out it was an old fracture and he can play through it based on pain tolerance. If there wasn't the rush to get the first part out while tests were still ongoing there never would have been confusion.

I would suggest an edit to the topic - Bauers played yesterday and actually had a triple.   Per the Brewers site yesterday morning he was day to day after the report came back the fracture was from an old injury.
